I would in a heart beat Abi! You'd love this place. I may ride someday myself. You never know. You just need to move east! Or visit....

What awesome pictures!!! So, what was that blue ribbon he was holding up?

I'm glad he's found something that he really enjoys. We're at the stage now where we're finding out little g isn't the "athlete" we once were and are trying to let him figure out what he wants....which is sorta the reason I got them fancy britches goats.

The red second place ribbons are for Lead-line Equitation and Lead-line Pleasure and the blue was for Lead-Line Ground Poles.
He decided he wanted to do Little League again this year after a kind of less than pleasant season last year. I let him do it but talked to the director. DS just makes the age cut off for the 9-10 league. Those kids are all a head taller than he is. Some will be turning 11 in a matter of weeks or months. John agreed (he knows DS from Scouts) to let him play down in the 7-8s again. Now that practice has started he started whining about having to go when he wants to be out playing in the yard, etc. Well, we finally got there yesterday after the first practice was rained out and he had a blast with the new team. He knows 4 or 5 of the boys from Scouts or school and the coach was so much better than last year's. DS is no athlete either but he'll have fun. Every now and then he'll say he wants to go back to gymnastics but he'd have to give up riding lessons to do it. I don't think that's going to happen!

little g hates doing it all. I mean, he LOVES playing all of the sports at home with his friends but put him in a field with a uniform and forget it. He'll cry the entire time. I know he's still young and all so we're not pressuring him into anything but it sure would be nice if he started getting into SOMETHING.

Big G wishes it's sports...I'm wishing it's FFA or 4H related so between the two of us we've got it all covered!

If he doesn't want to, don't force him. I don't know about anyone else here, but when I was a kid, I didn't play on any organized team. All the kids in the neighborhood (at least the boys and I) would get together and play stick ball or street hockey. And, we had a blast. And, when my son was little, it wasn't unusual for all the neighborhood kids to be at my house. The other day, I was talking to one of these "kids". (She's now an adult w/2 of her own kids.) She told me how much she enjoyed playing ball in my back yard. That's what's important.

Hen, what kind of horse is Paddy? The pics kind of dark (or else it's just my computer), but I'm thinking some kind of draft. And, I want to go riding too! I've been so busy I haven't had time to ride, plus the minis are all in the riding arena. :(

Yes, Paddy is a Shire. All I know is that it's a kind of draft horse and he has the most awesome personality. DS was given the chance to ride him at his first lesson but he declined due to a slight fear of heights. After watching the 7 yo girl ride him today he has stated that he WILL ride Paddy at his next lesson. Marvin is already looking a little small for him! There are 2 other horses at the farm currently, one being Shine, whom he did ride that first time and another who is not particularly well behaved and probably not a good fit for a new rider. There are new horses coming though from what I've heard. A new stall and pen are being built for Marvin and the owner's daughter will be getting a surprise donkey for her birthday at the end of the month. It will live with the pony and now the owner is starting to ask me a lot of questions about goats. If my wether weren't so bonded with his twin I might offer him so I'd have room for another milk goat but I think they both might die of separation anxiety.

I saw it I saw it! It was pretty short, but it was a video!

Deb - we're definitely not pressuring him. Actually, we're sorta excited that he's NOT into everything and anything. We like our evenings home together and not having to run to this practice or that meeting. We would like him to do one thing, though, just to keep him focus and occupied. We're giving him opportunities to try things out, but if three or four "practices" in all he wants to do is cry, we talk about it and he says he's done - so we are.
