I saw it I saw it! It was pretty short, but it was a video!

Deb - we're definitely not pressuring him. Actually, we're sorta excited that he's NOT into everything and anything. We like our evenings home together and not having to run to this practice or that meeting. We would like him to do one thing, though, just to keep him focus and occupied. We're giving him opportunities to try things out, but if three or four "practices" in all he wants to do is cry, we talk about it and he says he's done - so we are.
I wish there was a more local active 4H program near us. I've had a hard time getting Windham-Tolland to get back to me. I'd love for DS to get involved but that is our thing that we can't push him on. Maybe FFA in HS. We shall see. Maybe a good solution for the HS delima we will face. He will NOT be attending Windham. I did a year of FFA in HS. I wish I knew then what I know and I would have stuck it out.

So glad to hear that. I've heard of so many kids that get totally burned out because their parents have them involved in everything under the sun w/no down time, or family time. When my kids were little, they wanted to do karate. I told them that if they did that, they could do 1 other thing at the same time, but that was it. It didn't take them long to not want to do any of the other stuff, just the karate.

It will live with the pony and now the owner is starting to ask me a lot of questions about goats. If my wether weren't so bonded with his twin I might offer him so I'd have room for another milk goat but I think they both might die of separation anxiety.
You would be amazed how they would get over it. Especially since they will both still be with other animals and not alone. It sounds especially nice to me, because if you did that you could still see your little wether on a regular basis.

We were really concerned about the separation anxiety thing when our old pony died last year. She and her herd mate had been together for nearly 18 years and were VERY bonded. We got the surviving pony a little sheep and well ... she is as happy as a clam today! Seemed to have forgotten all about her friend within the first few days.

Anyway with that growing kid you NEED another milker! ;)

I could watch the video, but I liked even more the one with your son and a chicken? That was yours too, right?

I'm not sure? Where did you find it? It could have been.
DS is limited to what he can do. I just blew it this spring because he wanted riding lessons for his birthday. Cub Scouts gets pushed aside a bit so he has time for baseball. And riding may get postponed while baseball is at its busiest too. He'd be taking karate, guitar and playing Spring soccer to if he had his way. But when it comes time to actually leave any the house for any of those events he seems to want to stay home instead. I can tell when he's over booked. It gets worse.
I'll keep in mind moving the goat. He could do well. He's well behaved except for breaking that darned scur off and trying to bleed to death. He has only gotten out once when he walked over the fence when the snow was deep. Hmmmm......
