Probably go after your pigs.

I have a customer who has a vacation house in Nicaraque, he took his (super fierce but my baby love) pitbull down there. The pittie grabbed a farmers pig, the farmer whacked the dog IN THE BACK w/ a machete, pittie never let go of the pig.

I imagine OFG to be of similar nature.

(The dog is just fine, I kiss him and scold him every time I see him now.)
yep! that would be me. i've been known to make other people's dogs cry.

and can i get a hoorah for the machete action...whooot!

;-)

2 more days until vacation. Tomorrow is a HS day. Look for your quote of the day!! Today was elementary with my supervisor. It is also "School spirit week" and today was twin day. We had an arrangement to wear blouse we have that are white and have flared sleeves. She forgot. But she had a meeting at the HS and stopped at home to change. The kids were all riled up and goofy. Yesterday was hat day and a number of them didn't seem to get that the no hats in school rule was only bent for yesterday.
I found out our Boy Scout district is going to be having an archery certification course in June. The guy who ran the range at the local camp last year made it quite clear he was only doing it because they couldn't find anyone else. When I signed up tonight for more information the woman asked if I'd be interested in the 4 weeks of Cub camp. I might have a summer job! I taught archery at a YMCA day camp when I was in college. If I could do it then I KNOW I could do it now! DH won't be working this summer. Hmmm..... I'll sign up for the course no matter what. Certification is good for 3 years. This could get interesting. And it's only for July. I'd still have all of August off.
No new barn drama but I think "she" will be at the barn tomorrow with her daughter. They own and board a horse there and now she is saying that she wants to ride him in the upcoming show. The owner recommended she get over there and ride him because he hasn't been ridden in several weeks and he gets excited at shows. She also mentioned that this will probably be DS's last show on lead line. She thinks he'll be ready for walk/trot next time. That could get interesting if this other woman's daughter wants to show on the pony in the same class. Maybe we'll have DS show on the big draft horse, who is better behaved than the pony! That will be a sight! He hasn't ridden him yet but will soon. He has ridden one of the other mid sized horses once. I don't know if he'd be available for walk trot because one of the other girls rode him last time. It will be interesting to see what happens. I"m glad I kind of have some insight. I am so far able to stand back and just watch it all unfold without feeling like I'm dragged into the middle of it too much. DS is happy riding the pony on leadline. He doesn't have a clue what is going on as far as the politics. Don't know what happens when there are more riders than there are horses.....

It depends on the class. If they ride as individuals, you see one horse being ridden by several different children in the same class.

Ah, we've only been to one show and it was really small. Everyone rode at the same time, except in dressage.

Do you do some sort of State Testing at this time of the year Hen?

We are in the middle of MAP (Missouri) testing this week and were last week as well. This means we have a very serious quiet morning followed by insanity in the afternoons. :/ The school CRAZIES always starts about mid March around here. March Madness (?) followed by Spring Fever!!

As far as the horse show thing is concerned, we often had several "Horseless Horse" members in our 4-H club. We usually got them involved in some of the other aspects of the horse show and I think they often had more fun than the competitors! They passed out the ribbons, worked opening and closing the arena gates, ran errands for the judge, worked as groom for a competitor friend and occasionally we even let them be the announcer! My GEEK son usually preferred this to showing, unless it was a driving class.

Other times we would have our "Horseless Horse" members get the chance to show. They would borrow a horse from one of our other members and usually did one or two classes per day. We would team them up with a more experienced rider (who was their helper that day). Usually horse sharing like that worked out since the "Horseless" member was usually Walk-Trot while the experienced rider rode the canter classes. The beginner would show Halter Class (judged more on the horse) while the experienced would show Showmanship at Halter judged only on the person) etc...

Ugh. When I was in school it was the Iowa test of basic skills.

It seemed stupid and pointless then. It still seems stupid and pointless LOL. I remember asking my dad why I had to be standardized. I don't remember his answer though, but I'm pretty sure questions about my really bad grades and my almost perfect standardized test scores were in there.

I thought I should purposely fail all the tests so I wouldn't have to give him high expectations but I can't mis-answer questions :(

Yeah, we had CAPT testing at the high school and CMTs at the elementary schools last month. 2 weeks of torture for all. And in our town EVERYTHING rides on those test scores more than ever with the state now "intervening" in the district.
This little girl who will be riding the pony in the walk trot class actually HAS her own horse that is boarded at the farm. She just prefers the pony. The horse hasn't been ridden because mom is too busy getting married and causing problems so he hasn't been behaving and now she's too nervous to ride him. One of the big horses recently got sold and I think new horses are coming soon. I'm sure it will all work out and there will be a horse for DS to ride that's appropriate. He didn't ride big Paddy today because another rider was having a lesson on him. We found out that he actually won champion in his class last Sunday! He's got another ribbon coming. He is beyond excited!!!

Sometimes, they'll be asked to ride a pattern. It's been awhile since my daughter showed, so I don't recall what those classes are called. That's when you'll see them ride individually.

Around here at least they are Horsemanship/Equitation classes where they ride patterns. ;)
