Calling hours next weekend and a Celebration of Life party in the summer with all the bands and friends etc. Just the way he would have wanted it.
Long day at work with little patience for nonsense. I do not understand the current use of the 'n' word in our school. It seems to have become a replacement for "dude". Dude, you goin' to science class" has become "N", you goin' to science class? It's used by either sex, any ethnic background, to any other ethnic background. DH says he hasn't noticed it in his school so I don't know if it's just a local thing? Anybody else noticing this???
I swear the dog just walked up to me with his leash in his mouth and said HIKE ME WANNA HIKE Too bad there's no time. Scouts and baseball and phone calls. And cooking dinner and making lunches and goat milking and moving big fat chicks to larger quarters.....

Sigh. I forget how damaged emotionally some of these guys are. It will be interesting to see what is said when they gather tomorrow. DH's cell phone rang at 6 am today. He didn't get to it in time to answer it and didn't recognize the number. He was headed out the door to work so let it go as a wrong number. Curiousity got the better of him this afternoon and he called it back. It was the singer from the band who woke up after a rough night of sleep and realized he didn't know if anyone had called DH. Trying to catch him before he left for school, he panicked when DH didn't pick up and didn't leave a message. They talked for a while and both can't quite accept that he's gone. This is the third band member to pass away. I'd forgot they had a keyboard player with them for a short time who passed away mysteriously while out of town. He had a bit of a history so there is some speculation of OD in his case.

I need to go water my seedlings. They were looking a little weak this morning and I'm worried the tomatoes may not make it. The peppers are as healthy as anything but the tomatoes need help. Even if only a few of each variety survive I'll be happy. I don't have room for all I planted and will need to share the extras anyway. Ijust hope there are ANY to share!!

Indy went to baseball with DH tonight. He had a blast meeting the other team dogs, including a female Golden and a little Yorkie. Everyone who knew his story was thrilled to see him in "person" and he got lots of attention. We didn't take him out in public last year for some reason. I think he was just a little wild yet. Now he's mellowed quite a bit and is a pleasure to have out. We need to work on the pulling on the leash but even that is better.

29 days. 3 Monday of students. 3. wow....

So sorry for your loss. I know how close bandmembers get. EXDH's band is still like family, even though our kids are now in their late 20's. !!! :hugs

When my SIL died, they did put a notice on Facebook, but not until everyone close had been notified. That way, people that she knew only from there, or anyone that might have been missed for some reason knew. There was a short obit in just one paper. They charged, if I remember correctly, $200 for just the very short one that was put in!

Thanks guys. I think it is true, the times have changed. Mostly now I just feel hurt for DH that no one called him. Obits should beout in the papers today. I think what went wrong was that the friends that posted on FB really should have held off and let the family take care of business first if that makes sense. There is an etiquette that was not followed and if this is the way times are changing I'm not impressed. Hopefully after they meet tonight and we go to calling hours over the weekend I'll be able to move past it.
