When my ex brother in law died recently, they notified all of the close family members first. When I was told about it, I was asked not to share it on Facebook until other people were notified. I thought this was a good way to handle it.
In the first case where we found out about someone dying on Facebook, I was not close to the family. A close family friend posted that this person had died and then everyone responded in shock.
The site has become like a memorial to her, people go there to post comments and pictures and say nice things about her. It isn't so bad. I had to "unfriend" her however because I found it to be too sad of a reminder to see her name come up all the time.
I can see that. One friend who posted it, the one who I thought would have called DH, has changed his profile picture to one of the friend who died as a tribute. I guess times change but I don't have to like them. :/ DH has just left for what should have been a rehearsal. The guys are just getting together to talk. No decisions will be made beyond what to do about the gig they are scheduled to play at the end of this month. I suspect they will go through with it.
Poop! New vent. Our education budget was voted down. Here we go again. The freaking MAYOR had vote NO signs on his front lawn. Ridiculous. They'll have to make more cuts. Our test scores will tank even further. The state will do full out take over, set the budget themselves, forcing our taxes to go up higher. People are soooo stupid!!
I grew up in JeffCo CO where never a tax was seen to help schools LOL. It was balanced over the very poor rural areas and some very rich city areas and no one wanted to pay for the other.
The poor folk said "why should my hard earned money pay for them, they have money, they can pay their own kids" and the rich folk said "we aren't paying for them, they won't carry their own weight" ....
My school ended up with 3-4 per HALF locker and 50 kids in German class. They actually removed the desks and all sat on the floor together.
It will be quite a saga.... we've already got State "involvement". Blech. Guess I better start studying for that darned certification exam. I'll probably be looking for a job within the year. DH's budget got shot down too.
School funding is tough political nut to crack no matter where you live. In our district, on the eastern side, you have the college-educated professionals, on the western side, the blue-collar, been-here-for-generations folks. The school administration has their hands full.
Lots of our family members are teachers in their own districts. They sometimes don't know where to come down on issues.
sorry hen....I know it's not going to be a fun road ahead, especially in the education field right now. It's amazing how supposedly the first or next (?) set of state layoffs are going to be a the technical schools. Big G actually went to Ellis for a few years before transferring to Griswold.
