That's true Keljonma, I forgot! I could check Goodwill, also.

I did some recalculating for the soap I made, as far as prices. I actually worked out the math instead of estimating, lol. If I bought the coconut oil from the Soap Bar in town, each bar would cost me $.78. As it is, this batch cost a bit more. But still a relatively cheap hobby. Compare to quilting! Unless you are magic at finding deals at yard sales. Some co-workers are! "Oh, I got a bag of mixed fabric for $1.00! And batting in an unopened package, too!" :clap I never find such good deals.

If I move back to Gig Harbor, I should go garage saleing with my dad, who lives in Tacoma. He's awesome at haggling. Not mean or annoying at all. He just somehow knows what someone is willing to take for an item. And most importantly, he knows what he's willing to pay! Every other year there is a massive neighborhood garage sale in Tacoma. Good times, and even better deals. I think I got my cast iron skillet one year. He's gotten CBs (trucker radios), police scanners (nice for his neighborhood!), blenders, dvd players, speakers, truck parts, you name it. Well I suppose this is nothing special to all you SS people out there... Still, he's on the frugal side of even some of us! Bikes to work in a not-so-good area of Tacoma, and goes hunting for deer or elk once a year.

King 5 Weather: Things will stay dry for much of the week. We stay in a split flow pattern with not major weather systems heading our way. We can expect more low clouds in the morning with afternoon sunshine and highs in the lower to mid 70s. There is a pretty good chance we will break the record for the most consecutive dry days for the months of May and June. Today was the 25th straight dry day at Sea-Tac. We are now 3rd on the list for May and June dry spells. The longest dry stretch in May and June is 29 days. The longest stretch of dry weather at Sea-Tac for any period is 51 days. This occurred in July and August of 1951.

Urg, am picking up an extra shift today because I have so few hours. Now instead of 14 hours, I'll have 19. :th I'm not pleased with the shift at all, because it's 3:00-8:00 PM, so I can't get anything done.

I made and tried two homemade creamers. The first was the condensed milk+sugar+vanilla extract one. Meh, didn't care for it. Next is the sweetened condensed milk+milk+vanilla extract. Yummmm! I will use half and half or cream next time, though. Beware, I like my coffee SWEET. I'm pleased enough with the second type to keep on using it.

Well, now to work, where I will catch the Sunday Stragglers. Aka: The people who don't realize that we close at 7:00 instead of 9:00 on Sunday, and want to keep shopping even though we're closed.

Added more hours to my shift today! Instead of 7:00-12:00, I went in at 5:30 AM! -1:30 PM. I helped do freight. We received a couple hundred boxes. I shouldn't complain, because during the holiday season we can get up to 600-900 boxes. That's basically a whole semi-trailer of stuff. So I unloaded boxes, went to the office and counted the money, and then went on the floor to measure fabric. I'm tired. And nothing went right. The money didn't work out properly, I was stressed about the boxes, and a certain manager messed up a LARGE order I was measuring out. But I'm still in a good mood! :weee I can't think of why. Whenever I'm in a particularly good mood, I worry that it's the "up" part of a mood swing, and that soon I will be in a "down." But this journal has helped me to see that I don't have many "downs." Hey, one less thing to worry about!

I think dinner tomorrow will be Spinach Enchiladas. I still want to get down to the Farmer's Market to find some locally harvested honey. And my mom can't come up until Wednesday or Thursday, which is dumb, because I wanted to take her to the Wednesday Farmer's Market!

I was walking by Customer Service, where we have our lost and found, and saw a mason jar filled with water. If it's still there tomorrow, it is MINE. :plbb I'm trying to stop using plastic wrap, plastic bags, and limit how much foil I use. I have small Gladware containers, larger ones, and a bunch of glass containers with lids. Ideally I want to only use glass, but I just can't afford to yet. So I pick up things as I can. I especially want to stop using plastic wrap in the microwave (cancer&money issues) so I've been using waxed paper. Is that better or worse?? I wonder if the wax is bad? Anyway, the waxed paper is still cheaper.

You should stop using the microwave at all. That would eliminate any and all paper use. LOL Well it was just a thought.

Actually I don't use my microwave much. Just to melt butter on occasion and maybe once a month to pop some popcorn.

I hate microwave food and would rather mess up pans heating up food than use the thing.

It is dry here too. No rain in site. The heat is sweltering.

And don't you just love the people that want to shop when you are wanting to get home.

Mood swings are the norm at my house. DH is moodier than I am which is saying a lot. LOL My moods usually last a few minutes. I can be in 6 different moods in 30 minutes time.
His bad mood can last for days or weeks.

I only make dinner a couple times a week, so unless I heated the oven for each leftover, the microwave is the way to go. I've been thinking of a toaster oven, but it's not high on my priority list.

At the end of today, it will be 27 days no rain. I do not like. Although in middle school we had about the same amount of days of straight rain. Had to walk to the bus every day, too. Still, it is Washington, I can deal with the rain.

On weekdays we're open 12 hours, on Sundays we're open 9 hours. Somehow, someway, people need to get themselves into the store during one of those many hours. If we were a grocery store that sells things necessary for life, it would be more understandable. We're a craft store. Whatever it is, it can wait.

I can always tell if I'm PMSing if something makes me SO MAD and when I go to explain it to someone else, it sounds silly. Then you know!

Your PMS comment made me laugh. My biggest fear - There is no such thing as PMS, I am just this way naturally.

PMS in my book = Potential Murder Suspect.

Okay, one reason to like summer..... My energy bill is $29.18!! Granted, I still have my gas bill, but it's about $68. So less than $100! Not including water/sewer, garbage, internet, and tv. But certainly an improvement over $125 for gas and $80 for energy in the winter.

I'm trying to wean myself off the microwave, and just use it for water for tea, mainly. DH is still addicted to it.

You can cover food with an inverted plate to hold the heat in, or a small amount of food on a plate can be covered with a microwave-proof bowl.

Wax paper is made with parrafin, so yes, it is bad. I learned that after switching to the brown wax paper from Whole Foods, aka Fake Organics, when I learned that it is no better, just a nice trick to make you pay more, thinking it is better.

I am using Grolsh swing-top style beer bottles as my water and ice tea bottles now, and canning jars also are great for transporting food in a lunch or storing in the fridge. I like it so much better, actually, since I can see at a glance exactly what is in my fridge. We throw almost nothing away now. In plastic containers, things would get "lost" or forgotten and spoil. In glass, you can see it quickly and clearly and remember to use it up. Plus it is better for you!

My plan was to make myself a sandwich wrap with a nice peice of cotton fabric and treat it with beeswax, but I haven't gotten around to it. I so rarely have to take a sandwich anywhere anymore, with my current schedule. I still wanna make one, just to try it. I like to try EVERYTHING at least once! :D But I bet a sandwich would fare better cut into unconventional peices and slid into a canning jar, too.

By Grolsh!! That's a fabulous idea!! I love a nice glass of beer too. Empty jar/glass :drool and use it for storage :woot !! Do they still make Grolsh beer in this old fashioned swing top bottle? I had forgotten about those bottles! Thanks for the idea!

I had a good health-nut friend that said the only good reason to use a microwave was to sanitize your kitchen sponges.
