Hey henny, I ordered Cucumber fragrance from Brambleberry the other day. The first time I ordered from then I got a free sample of 1 oz fragrance, so this time I was looking forward to one. Well I opened up the box, and I found this on top:

I feel like I've been jipped.. neglected even! THAT is my free sample? What does one even do with a small little YELLOW bag like that??!?

Henny, I think you should change your title to "It's too #@!%^&# HOT here!!!

It is officially 100 degrees in my house. Isn't that speciaL????!!!!

I am delerious! Just finished a ginormous smoothie, it saved my life. But the peak of the heat doesn't even hit us until 6:30 in the evening.

We are off to the lake soon, then Costco, Target, Albertsons etc. anywhere they have air conditioning. This is getting way too old!!!!!!!!!!

I have set up a slow drip cooling station for my hens...hope they can deal with today, it is supposed to be the hottest day so far!!

I'm soooo thankful for the reminder to close the windows during the day. It sounds stupid, but we get so few hot days, and I don't pay attention to if they're open or shut. SO with Farmfresh's comment I got up today at 5:45 AM and closed all the windows and blinds. Hung fleece over some that the blinds are broken. Because of that, although it's 98 outside right now, it's only about 84 in here! My fan makes it sound like my living room is preparing for takeoff. But it does the job. Where my parent's live near Tacoma, it's 101!

Blackbird- I just realized you changed your screenname, lol. And Brambleberry played a joke, teehee.

Officially Seattle's Hottest Day Ever

Updated: 2:51 pm PDT July 29, 2009
SEATTLE -- The National Weather Service reports Sea-Tac Airport has reached 102 degrees, making it the hottest day ever since record keeping began in 1891.

As temperatures rose to the triple-digit mark this afternoon, the heat wave threatened to break records and was blamed for a power outage.

A power outage in Monroe is affecting 13,000 customers. Snohomish Public Utilities said "line sag" due to the heat was the cause.

Meanwhile, seven people have come to Tacoma General Hospital with heat-related problems, a hospital spokesman said.

"July 29, 2009 looks to be a day that will be written about in Seattle weather history books for years to come," wrote KIRO 7 meteorologist Sam Argier in his forecast. He said he expects the high to top out at 101 degrees.

The temperature at Sea-Tac was 99 degrees as of 1:53 p.m., according to the Weather Service. The average high temperature on this date is 76 degrees.

"The current all-time record high is 100 degrees and has been set twice, back on July 20, 1994 at Sea-Tac Airport and on July 16, 1941, when records were kept downtown at the Federal Building," Argier wrote. "Records for Seattle go all the way back to 1891, so this is a truly historic event."

The National Weather Service has extended the excessive heat warning from Thursday at 6 p.m. to Friday at 6 p.m. An air stagnation advisory is also in effect until 6 p.m. Friday.

Overnight temperatures were warm: A sign at the Pemco building in Seattle showed it was 70 degrees at 3:40 a.m.

Tuesday mornings low temperature of 69 degrees tied the record for the warmest morning in Seattle set back on Sept. 2, 1974. In other words, this is the warmest overnight low on record.

Mayor Greg Nickels, at a news conference Tuesday, suggested people seek relief from the heat in air conditioned public libraries.

He said city workers will figure out ways to deliver water to the homeless and that the city's Human Services Department will start calling elderly clients to check on their welfare.

The Meals on Wheels program is offering extra bottles of water with the meals it delivers.

The Seattle Public Library's Columbia Branch closed at 4 p.m. and the Northeast Branch at 5 p.m. Tuesday when the internal temperature of the buildings reached 90 degrees.

The Columbia Branch opened in 1915 and is a Carnegie-funded branch that does not have air conditioning.

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room and stay out of the sun.

Also be sure to check up on relatives and neighbors.

Record breaking heat is a 4 letter word.

I just hosed off my horses and my woolyish sheep Dolly. The chicken's run got another splash of cold well water.

I should have closed my windows Henny, but I couldn't resist the breeze. :( (I'll do it tomorrow.)

We are out of here now. Lake, here I come! First let me peel my legs off this chair!

Miserable. Both my mother and I do not take the heat well. We get sick. :p I woke up with a headache yesterday, so I knew it was going to be a bad day for me. I napped and read a book on the couch all day long and ate as much salt as I could. Our house was 10 degrees or more cooler than outside, but it still was tiresome. I have to start my evening chores by 5:30 these days if I want to finish by sunset, but that is the high point of the heat, so I have taken to soaking my clothes in water before I go outside. It works wonders! At least the worst is behind us now. Two nights before we hit 102, I knew we would probably see something like 103 and I could not sleep that night because I was stressed out about it. :/

Getting wet really does help!! I just spray myself with the hose as I do my outdoor chores. My hair is a wreck and I hate this dumb hair cut I got before summer arrived, I cant get it to pull back into a pony tail. I look like the blonde dude in "Dumb and Dummer" with this hair. What is that actor's name? Cant remember anything in this heat!

We are all looking ragged in these parts, I went to the grocery store and everyone was dressed in their skivvies and walking around like zombies.

Try a bandanna (kerchief or what ever you call it). Get a cotton one wet with cold water and tie that around your unruly hairdo. That should keep you damp, cool and contained.
