When we did camp, that's what we always did. Right now, I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to hook a tarp off of my stock trailer. I plan to tie a tarp to it, and have the other end held up by tent poles. The idea is to give me some shade in my tent as well as give me a dry area if it rains. But I'll admit to wondering how well it would do if we get bad wind.

Some race friends of ours had a trailer with a little channel running along both side of it at the top. They bought some mini bungee's, with a ball thing at the end of them, ran the bungee through the grommets on a tarp, and fed the ball part into the channel. Can't remember seeing how they stopped them from feeding back out, or what they used to hold up the other end, but I thought at the time that it was genius!
I would much rather shred a tarp than an awning. Around here, they're dirt cheap! Although, DH constantly reminds me that "Tarps aren't waterproof. You need to stop treating them as if they are."

It depends on what kind of tarp you have. The one I have is. And, it's pretty heavy duty as well.

Hi Karen,:frow Wow that sure is a nice looking rig you got there. What is your water capacity on that thing??

We are getting ready to hit the road again. All that space sure makes traveling with children and the dog easier.

I just wanted to chyme in on the ac thing. We only have one unit as well. I was hoping to add one to the master but have not as of yet. My fil used to own an ac company and my dh talked to the rv people and this is what we learned.

For our rv the ac ducts run under the roof but above our heads. By the time the cool air gets from the unit to our room etc the air gets hot. Because of that whole 20 degree split thing and how ac's work that bites for me. On our main unit we have the ability to close the white circle vents in the back and front and just direct the unit straight down into the main living area. This actually works really well because the air does not get heated as it travels the length of the rig. This might help you cool down faster.

I still hope to add a second ac soon but for now we do it this way.

So where are you headed on vacation this year??
