Is it browny like bacon? Cause if it is white he still ain't coming near it......the nose might say bacon, but the color will say MAYO and he will run!

I think of the dog commericals....BACON BACON--I SMELL BACOOOONNNN!

I would be begging right next to that mutt for real bacon..HA

Ok, ladies here is the deal. I have to go to cheer....when I get home there better be an explanation because:

1) I will need a martini after 2 hours with ten 6 & 7 yr olds

and

2) I love my bacon.

Um . . . ok . . . let me try to start something reasonable (feel free to add to this or make other suggestions, folks) . . .

1. I guess you need to cook up some bacon.
2. Then probably the next best step would be to pour the fat into a jar and let it cool . . . but not until it gets solid.
3. Mix it with your alcohol (gin or vodka) and swirl it around real good. Let it sit for an hour or so, maybe.
4. Filter out the bacon fat globules . . . or if you let it sit for an hour, they may have all fallen to the bottom of the jar
5. Finish making your martini

Let me know how it works!

ETA: Maybe you should also salt the rim of your glass?

DM,

i LOVE how you are trying to be reasonable!! there IS no reason when it comes to bacon!!!

Dace - good luck with them cheerin' gals!!! wow - you are going to deserve it!!!

ok FINE.. the famed bacon martini is not a unicorn... its real. see? i found it on the internet:

http://baconmartini.com/

did you know there is candied bacon? oh man.. its the tops! and see:
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/cosmicvariance/files/2008/12/43694047.jpg

my cousin, a pro chef, made gingered bacon one time at the legendary All Pork All The Time Pork Feed - a family tradition. honestly after we ate that candied bacony goodness we all laid on the floor and fell onto a stupor.

AND

just in case you were wondering - bacon in my beauty secret! its true! i'm pushing 43 and i still get carded! all this from eating bacon.

but why would you filter out the bacon fat globules, woman????? just pour the whole thing in there fat and all!

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

 I wasn't too far off . . . they say:

First cook some bacon and when nicely browned place the bacon in a widemouth jar filled with Vodka. Let the lovely bacon essence seep into the Vodka for at least a day. While you don't have to refrigerate it, if you do, it is easier to skim off the fat globules later.

To make a Bacon Martini, fill a mixing glass or cocktail shaker about half full of ice cubes then add 2 oz of the bacony Vodka and Dry Vermouth to taste.

A very dry Martini will be less than 1/8 Vermouth. A dry martini will be less than 1/6 Vermouth. A regular Martini will be 1/4 to 1/3 Vermouth. If you prefer Sweet Vermouth, have at it. By the way, if you use equal parts of Dry and Sweet Vermouth, technically this is known as a "Perfect" Martini.

Stir or shake the Vodka and Vermouth. If you are using bacony Vodka from the fridge, you'll get a stronger drink because less ice melts and so there is less dilutionk. Strain the mixture into a Martini glass and add an olive or a lemon twist.. It really isn't complete without a swizzle stick of perfectly browned bacon. Enjoy
If any of you try this, I want to hear about it!
