I bought store crackers for the first time in about 5 years last week  I only got them for my brother though :p The darn things aren't welcome at my house anymore
I'm a sucker for the little rice crackers with the bit of nori wrapped around them and the wasabi flavor! OH MY! I wonder how hard those are to make? I have the nori! just bought 120 sheets thru amazon cheap.

Probably wouldn't be too difficult :hu Maybe you could find a recipe online for those. I've never even heard of them :hide

I think they are imported from either the Philippines or Japan or who knows where! I've seen them from a couple different places. now I have something else to google foo
they look like this
http://www.amazon.com/JFC-Arare-crackers-wrapped-seaweed/dp/B0006G1K9I and there is another type that is square with a wrap round of nori and wasabi they didn't have the other brand I get on amazon tho. and they are only $2 a bag at world market so I get them every so often.

found an easy one so I may have to give it a go but wrapping the nori on after they are done..
http://tesathome.com/2011/08/23/homemade-rice-cracker-with-nori/ and my daughters "sister in law" could have them as she is celiac and can't have some of the other stuff we make. since they are at my daughters house often with their daughter I often make sure I bring something she can have.

That second pic looks almost like a chocolate chip cookie

Interesting crackers....we don't get into much Asian food because of the MSG, that's DD's food intolerance. It makes her face swell up like a basketball :/ I can't eat many Asian foods due to all the soy. I may try these though. DD used to love Chinese food when she was little, and DH loves it too, so I may give these a try. Thanks for posting the recipe :)

Cindi, have you ever tried Vietnamese food? It's a mush fresher tasting cuisine with way more veggies than the typical north American Chinese restaurant (that tends to be oily and heavy but leaves you hungry just a few hours later).

They don't use any msg at all. I love the phở and the rice vermicelli dishes with chargrilled meat. And the spring rolls. Tastyyyyy!

This article shows some photos of Vietnamese phở dishes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pho (sorry for the hijack, but we love Vietnamese food and I bet you'd enjoy it too!)

I have to say that while some MSG bothers me not all does.. like the more natural occurring ones from seaweeds and mushrooms don't bother me at all. and I agree with Moolie.. I've been researching and cooking much more in the Asian cuisine area and with most recipes you can omit what you can't have and add other stuff you can. I love sushi and just in the last couple months got the nerve up to just buy the stuff and make it. and it is super simple and while searching for sushi I came across Kimbap which the guys in my family like better as there is no fish at all if you don't want-I made it with strips of ham and cheese the other day and even the grandkids tried it(grandson loved it.. grand daughter ate it but not a fan of the nori) my rolls are not gonna make me a sushi-ya anytime soon but some of the other recipes that I've been doing have really been fun and don't bother my tummy at all.
I know that you can't have the soy but miso is a big favorite of mine and I was a bit leery of buying so much(comes in big 2lb packs) I've added it to many things and love it. and I just saw that you can order Miso that is soy free! they make it with chickpeas.
I can't wait for this summer to get all the fresh garden veggies and roll more sushi(I'm thinking rice strips of tomato(no seeds) strips of peppers and hot peppers and some avocado and a sprinkle of various herbs like a salsa roll).
I'm also determined to feel better(finally don't feel like death warmed over from the bug the grandkids gave me last week) and get my new family grain mill attached and used to make some bread this week. but I have plenty of rice so I may grind some to make the crackers with too.
with the rice crackers my son love siracha hot sauce so I may make a honey/siracha sauce to brush on them for final baking and make some spicy ones.

I probably would like Vietnamese food moreso than other Asian cuisine. I just have always despised Chinese food, just the smell makes me sick sometimes. Maybe it's because of the heavy soy and msg, but I have never liked it, though I have tried it several times when I was younger. Now give me Italian, Mexican, or something spicy...LOVE sriracha, and I'm good. I am a picky eater anyway, always was as a kid too, though I didn't have much choice then...it was beans and potatoes or potatoes and beans every night :p
