No problem I guess the soldiers don't care about that so much huh? They get sand fleas pretty bad there and the collars are probably the least dangerous thing that they do.

I'm with you, SL! I, just to be mean, sprayed some tater bugs that were on my plants with OFF, as I was walking by. Within an hour all the plants had withered, turned brown and died! The next day it looked as if someone had torched that section of my potato plants. AND WE PUT THIS STUFF ON OUR SKIN! So....if yer gonna use poison on your skin, do it on one spot and not all over!!

Just kidding.....why couldn't the flea collars be used on the outside of the shirt cuff, or pant cuff, and still yield favorable results?

My niece was giving me grief over using flea collars on my dogs.....said I am poisoning them and should use the flea drops that you put on their back instead! Hello?? Let's see....put some poisonous oil that absorbs into their skin topically, directly on their skin, that lasts for up to 2 months......or, put a collar, that rests mainly on their hair, loosely around their necks? Hmmmmm.....I think I'll take the collars, thanks.

I like the idea of the Neem oil shampoo for the dogs and may try that soon! I usually bath them in Dawn detergent and lavender essential oil. They HATE the essential oils and will role in anything to get rid of it. I've learned to tone it down a little on that. For the most part I don't need to use flea collars because of the bathing in this manner.

I guess your right, I really don't think that soldiers care too much.
Bee, I know it is crazy the stuff that we put on our bodies that is SO poisonous. I should change this thread to othert repellents as well!

Ummm, hello people. I think this section is called "natural remedies" for a reason. The neem oil is a great idea. We put some on last night for the mosquitos and it seemed to work. Off and deet are chemicals, and should be discouraged from being encouraged in this thread. Sorry to sound like I'm on my soapbox, but really.

Well, when I started this thread I was looking for ways to make natural bug repellent. We are just discussing some of the possibilites and how bad deet and other chemicals are.

I might use deet when I go bird hunting.

Just an example. There are others. Not trying to flame, just pointing out what you obviously overlooked. I think the whole idea of natural remedies is taking a conscious look at the things we are doing to our bodies with chemicals, and trying to avoid it.

I don't know if this helps but when we send care packages overseas for the soldiers some of the things they request are flea and tick collars. The kind you buy for your dogs.
They wear them around their wrists and ankles. I have never heard of that before until I got the wish list.
If you think they are getting in through your shirt collar, you could wear one around your neck if you could find one large enough. I know that sounds like I am joking, but who will see it anyway, your collar should cover it.
Since you get them so bad, I would be wearing 5 of them at a time. The wrists, ankles and neck.
And yet another.....
