I think any social program that allows a person to get back on their feet thus allowing them to once again provide for themselves and their families is indeed self-sufficiency at it's finest. Take the programs that allow single mothers to go to school. Golly, give a woman an education and provide daycare for her child, even transportation for the woman back and forth to school and she'll be able to get a job that will more than pay what it took from your taxes while being....dare I say it? Self-sufficient. What about the school lunch programs? Kids who get at least one nutritious (school food nutritious? ....oh well) meal per day learn better and again, an education helps kids grow up to be contributing members of society. I find no hypocrisy in supporting self-sufficiency for myself and others with my political beliefs.

That is in no way why I wasn't participating, it was because I needed to be able to moderate it. To state that the point was so I could reserve the right to shut it down just confirms what I was saying. That's the only reason? Not because someone might be rude to someone else - on either side of the aisle, which is what a moderator takes care of, issues. This is the way free flow of words is stopped, by someone making a statement that has little to do with the facts, yet the statement stands, as made.

I'm human, I couldn't stand it anymore, so I posted. I'll let Rob deal with any issues here.

You just happened to be the most recent person in a long chain of people claiming SS and liberal/Democratic/progressive political views cannot coexist.
There you go again. That is not unlike the "prohibit" untruthful accusation you spat out earlier in this thread.

I said nothing of the kind...yet you say that I " just happened to be the most recent person"....

It looks like you do a lot of assuming on here about people and what they believe. You know how you can break up the word assume, don't you?

A "long chain"? Well, since I am new I don't know much about your long chain. It is interesting that you take out your disdain for this long chain of people on someone new to this site. Like I said, nice welcome wagon you have here.

Finally, FINALLY you make some valid points in your most recent post. Why not until now?
Finally? It appears that there are a few that had no problem whatsoever reading and understanding my post. Based on some posts here and the numerous PM's I received, it was actually quite clear to people. Maybe it was clear to conservative trains of thought and not so clear to progressive/liberal trains of talk?:idunno

But, one thing is clear. If you are conservative and you do offer your opinion on here.......it will be scrutinized to the fullest.... :ep

people asking you to stop dinking around and just get to the point.
more negative slang from you.....

I guess posting definitions of various words is now considered dinking

Now that I know that I have to spell out every thing I say on here so that it is easier to understand, I will make every effort to do so.

Whew, folks! This is a big ol' thread and getting a little full of hatorade..... :p

Can you see why I really, really, really hate politics?

These things always seem to break down into this kind of discourse and it leaves a bad taste in the collective forum mouths. Can we agree to disagree and have a drink or a sandwich or a hug together? :D :hugs :love :) :thumbsup :frow

Sometimes people need to work out their views on how forum posts are handled. Nothing wrong with them handling their problem as long as it stays decent. I see no one going overboard at all.

but I am close to tearing the old gray hairs out...HAHAHA

hey, we need a "tear out your hair" smiley!

I guess it's that feeling of wanting to tear out the hairs that makes this kind of thread uncomfortable....but then, I don't have to read it if it makes me uncomfortable, do I? :p

Still....is it fun, educational, necessary, productive? ..... not really.
