My mom took out a personal ad....she was very picky, said he must be willing to be a hands on dad, be a Christian, and some other stuff....I can't remember anymore because the first yahoo that answered she tossed out all her regulations and restrictions and married the dolt.

They are now raising their two kids and it's still questionable if it is happy ever after.......

Thats funny. I have a friend who married very well the second time. She came up with a list of questions for any guy when she first met him. If he did not answer the questions correctly she never saw him again. Her first question was always Are you married? #2. Do you have children? (She never had any and was not interested in raising any or being with someone who had to spend half his check on child support). #3. Where do you work? If the answer was yes the next question was how long have you been there? Anyone who was between jobs was tossed immediately.
She did not make it a test, it was just casual conversational questions that people normally ask. It was just easier for her to say no to a second date or meeting if she already knew that she did not like the answers to any of the questions.

that was a good last line Dragon

TELL friends you are looking. Sometimes that blind date setup might be the one...never know.
I had a friend set me up with a friend of hers who she said was PERFECT for me.

All he talked about was 70s music and the artists and what bands he had seen and whose autograph he had. Urk.

It was like he had never left high school.

He was concerned because the people from those bands were starting to die off. It was like he was worried about being left alone.

I havent' had any blind dates since then.

I had a blind date once. She kept touching my face all the time and wouldn't take her sunglasses off. I told her some Helen Keller jokes and she got mad at me. I decided right then no more blind dates.

That's the million dollar question, isn't it? Looked for many, many years and, yes, all the good ones seem to be taken...at least in my corner of the world!

Finally gave up and have been quite content to pursue my own SS dreams ever since. Don't really care if I find one or not now, which, as folks continually tell me, is the exact time one will find me!

I am really enjoying my "single-ness" now days and would be a little disconcerted to be presented with an opportunity that I used to pray for....... :p

Hope she finds contentment in her single life, or finds the elusive "Good Man" when she really needs him! :)
Good answer Bee. This is exactly where I am at in my life also. I am selfish with my time right now...does that sound bad? I would rather stay home and enjoy a good book and the company of my dogs then go out and waste precious time like I used too...:)

I kind of agree with Bee and Delia - I think I want someone in my life but whenever I do start to date someone, I resent having to make time for him. And, I am not about to change for anyone. Last guy I dated wanted me to get rid of my livestock, and to stop letting my dog sleep on the couch- which he had been doing for 9 years.

The goats and the dog prevailed.
