I say if they want my money ---why make me pay a fee to join.
I don't like it. I might just let it lapse over this year and not join again.
honestly for the price it "almost doesn't seem worth it" cause bulk is very expensive!!!! one trip costs alot of money at one shot! :(
Sams club has a thingy now where you buy the upgraded membership (100 bucks? or something like that) and then they watch what you buy and promise to give you two hundred back in savings or they'll send you a check for the difference. So you periodically get offers in your email or they just put cents off on your card for things you buy regularly. (shrug) We'll see.

Well, Sam's has been a real savings for us. With 5 kids still at home we can use the bulk savings. Usually we buy meat and chicken at Safeway or King Soopers though. Same with fruit. Sam's seems to freeze their fruit whether on purpose or not I don't know. We also use Sam's to help our college kids out some. They share a house in Boulder but have no car. So we buy them stuff like t-paper, peanut butter, ramen noodles, hot dogs and Lor gives them a bunch of her canned stuff.

I hate paying the 40.00 too, but when I see what some of the stuff costs at regular grocery stores I'm glad I have a Sam's card. I hate giving money to that whole enterprise, but sometimes you have to do unpleasant stuff to survive.

Shopping for the best prices is unpleasant? Boy, not for me. The unpleasant part is not having enough money after taxes for even the best prices I can find anywhere.

I had that problem too. You just have to find ways to reduce your tax burden. I bought a house I can't afford and adopted 5 kids. Of course it's kind of a wash, but I'm hoping at least one of them will change my diapers in about 20 years. I know I changed a lot of theirs. Plus I love all my kids and my Wife. The house I could live without, but it gives me something to do if I'm looking for something to do.

I wasn't trying to make a political statement. So lets see if we can steer it back where it belongs.

It's not a political statement, it's the truth. I own a house, work for myself at just above minimum wage, pay both sides of my Social Security and Medicare taxes. After taxes, my mortgage payment, and my utilities, I live on about $140 a month, including groceries. I say God Bless Sam Walton and Walmart. I couldn't survive without WalMart (we don't have a Sam's). Seems to me that is right on topic.

I am a member of NC Farm Bureau for my homeowners insurance and YUP--$25 a year fee. Ticks me off but they offer me the best...and Tony does get "discounts" on tractor tires and such.

In fact, only them and Sams Club is my only annual fees.

And I elect to pay them---hmm...time to hit myself with a 2X4!
