My ducklings should arrive tomorrow!! WOOT!!

I am sorry for the seriousness the intruded the thread. My fault. I will try to keep my topics more light hearted from now on! :D

*raises right hand* I solemnly promise to be a good girl from here on!
Oooh, ducklings!!! Hope you can post pics soon. What kind are you getting? I got my first ducks this past spring, two blue swedish and two khaki campbells. I miss the cute little ducklings but they're still fun to watch as almost grown ups. I'd like an egg or two from the females already though..... sorry, I'll be good too and stop whining about my freeloading ducks. : (

I went in on a duck order with a fellow BYC'er. order had to be for 10 ducks, so she gets 3 and I have 7 coming!

I am getting 2 blue swedish girls, 1 blue swedish male, 2 male rouens, 1 male Khaki Campbell, and one Straight run khaki Campbell.

The male ducks are for the girls I already have. lol. It will be next spring I am sure before they are old enough for the girls, though. I have a female Khaki and 2 female rouens, and since we thought they might need mates....

I am still looking for a female Pekin for my boy. Poor Quackers is lonely!

edited because it's too late for my spelling!

Well, when I started selling chicken eggs for eating, everyone began asking if I had duck eggs! I have had sooo many requests, hubby finally agreed to let me get ducks!!

Now, I got the Khakis and rouens for eggs, but the blue sweds are a breeding project for myself as pets. Plus, I figured I could sell hatching eggs from them, too.

Oh and we are a HUGE 4-H community and I have had several 4-H'ers ask me to sell them some of my stock. Sadly I had to turn them down. I can't sell off what will be my parent stock!!

eta: the locals want the duck eggs for baking and custards!

COOL

you did a great thing. your heard what people want, and you are going to supply it...now that is a business! :)

Yea, and I did some research on it locally here, asked people what they thought was a fair price for duck eggs, and even the owner of our local feedstore said he would pay $3 a dozen! :ep

So considering selling ONE dozen would almost cover the cost of the first duck....yea, I am totally going to have that market covered!!
