The wind has picked up some here, but it's not too bad, yet. I'm glad I didn't wait to go out and feed Stormy! It's gotten much worse since I went! KN just called. They left from where they stayed overnight at 4:00 AM, so she made it home. She might drive me nuts, but I'll admit to being concerned about them coming home thru all this.

I heard from my uncle near the Jersey shore. His adult sons have been ordered to evacuate. He is staying put which concerns me. He is relatively prepared with food, water, dog food, etc. But he is on a street that could easily get completely blocked by water. Friends we haven't heard from in ages have been calling this afternoon. Family members from out of state are emailing and contacting via Facebook to make sure we're ready and sharing cell #s so we can get in touch after the fact to let them we're okay.

Thanks, OFG! Looks like it's headed straight towards NY city. That's gonna suck.

I was thinking the same thing. The sheer number of people there........There will be things flying around even if it isn't a category 3 or whatever. I hope everyone is taking cover and using good sense.

My college roomate and her DH live in the Village. They left yesterday for their summer place Upstate. They were very happy to have that option!

We're doing alright so far. Everything that can be done has been done for a while. Also, I just filled the tubs. 2 of them will be for potable water and the other for the toilet in case we need it.

The local power company has an outage map and people are losing power all around us, but so far so good for us.

My family down in Wilmington came out of it great, it's the rest of them I'm worried about. No one is checking in on FB so I'm sure they don't have power. There was one check in by phone a couple of hours ago saying how scary terrible the wind is/was.

Just a waiting game now.

NYC's evacuation was yesterday since mass transit shut down (history-making) at noon today. Yikes.

Got the buck into the barn, pigs fed with enough to last until Monday, chickens, too. Gotta fill up water containers now and pick up the last of the loose stuff in the garage and cellar (both WILL flood) and a couple of items in the yard, like the gas grill and a trash can that was hosed out and left upside down. I'll only need to go outside to care for the goats tomorrow, and if it is really bad, they can skip one milking and be ok. I really don't know what to expect, but we have some large old, old trees that I've been watching for a couple of years now, damaged in the drought years we had recently.

I think tonight is a night for pie. Still gotta get the last two loads of laundry done since I may not be able to do any for a while (in a machine, that is.) And pack a cooler for food for tomorrow in case I don't want to open my fridge at all.

Yikes.

A few cab companies are still running in NYC according to Fox, but they have began price gouging  I can't stand opportunistic jerks during a crisis :rant

Sunsaver, I will continue to update, we're tuned into Fox until this is over. I was gone and cooking dinner or would have answered you sooner
