If he isn't neutered, I would have him neutered. I'm always a big fan of removing any hormone aspect of a situation. This sounds more like young dog needing some training but I still think getting him neutered would be helpful.

I think all od the advice you have gotten is right on the money. You have to step in and kick his butt so that he knows that th lamb is yours, not his to play with.

Now that you are armed with that basic idea, I am sure that a little time on the net with give you the tools you need to effectively deal with the situation.

My dogs have an above-ground, wireless electric fence and it works great! You can get them from Petco and they are made by PetSafe. Very strong signal and may help you with this situation.

This way, your dog has a boundary.....he can patrol this boundary OUTSIDE the sheep fencing, which is where you want him anyway. If I take our boundary out to the fullest range, it covers more than an acre of ground.

Or, if his presence near the sheep is all that is required to deter yotes, you can have his boundary overlap the sheep's area...this way they have an escape route from his playful advances.

The way I have mine set up, if the dogs were to somehow get a wild hair and start chasing the chickens, my birds have a "free" side where the dogs cannot go. Not without painful consequences. Hasn't ever happened but it's a nice safety net for my flock, if needed.

Another point: You may want to cull this particular sheep. She isn't in the flock, which makes her vulnerable and sheep don't do well when not with their own kind. If she can't protect herself, she won't be able to fend for her lambs either. There has to be a reason the other sheep won't allow her in the flock. Why waste time worrying about this one sheep? Sell her down the road.
