O, how we love to complain about the weather. On Tuesday we had the start of 50 mph winds for 48 straight hours. O I wish my wind turbine had been up...Then with the wind we got 3 inches of the heavy wet snow that night and it froze (28F) that night. It just hasn't been a fun week. Winter came on like the switch was thrown and off it went.
If anyone would like some snow, you may have all of mine. It melts a little during the day and causes mud everywhere, then everything freezes at night. Frozen slush is not good for tractor tires. It cuts like glass.
Hopefully, this is just a warning and I'll be able to get everything else "winter ready" by the end of Sunday...snow fence, windows sealed, doors sealed, yard picked up...etc.
I don't mind the winter but it permeates everything and makes it tough to do anything. Here on the high prairie the winters are the most severe I have ever experienced...boo hoo :barnie
Too cold too quick for me. :somad

When the sun shines thru the clouds and you see it on any kind of day. I think of God and I get chill bumps.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who does that. To me, it looks like heaven is breaking thru the clouds. And, sometimes at night, I'll see one of the planets really bright. It always makes me think of the Christmas story in Matthew.

Same here....my kids would always call out and say, "Mom, look! Its God's fingers reaching through the clouds!"

I always imagine that Heaven must be just on the other side of that dark cloud.....and it is. :)

Deb, I love looking at the stars and winter time stars are the most spectacular! Sometimes I bundle up and go out to visit the stars and the dogs.

I talk to God and I imagine the stars are angels watching over me. There is that passage in the Bible that calls Michael the evening star, I think.

I love the sun shining through the clouds too. It makes me think of all the pictures in childrens bibles. When I was a kid and believed in God I used to think he was up there. My Grandma used to tell us that thunder was God moving his furniture around. My Dad would sprinkle holy water on us when there was a bad thunderstorm.

My kids on the other hand think thunderstorms are incredibly cool because we tell them they are.

I like seeing snow blanketing the pastures when the sun comes out. I enjoy watching the horses frolic in the first snow. I hate dealing with the snow and all the cold that comes with it. I hate the bare trees and the dead grass. I will admit that snowstorms are kind of cool except I wonder how bad the drifts are going to be and how I'm going to get out of the 200' driveway with 6 ft drifts all over it and no tractor or plow.

Send some cold my way, please! The forecasted highs are all in the 70's and the lowest temp forecast for the next days is tonight at 44 - still haven't had a frost. It's been just plain HOT the last few days - even some nights where the low has been in the 70s! And that was this past week:rolleyes: But as somebody reminded me, count my blessings, it's good for my garden - I'm a newbie to all of this. Here in the deep south, we've got four seasons - unfortunately, they're almost summer, summer, still summer, and Christmas.... And I've spent a few Christmas' in shorts:/

I, too, love the "fingers of God" coming down to touch us - what a beautiful sight!

We have 70's forecast this weekend. It's going to be great not to freeze to death taking the kids trick or treating. It usually snows here on Halloween. It will also give me a chance to increase my Turkey fences to 8'. Keep those crazy Bourbons in their run. They love to get out and chase the cats around.

They're calling for a frost or freeze tonight for the first time this fall. So, I went out and picked what I could in my garden. I may have missed some hot peppers. It got dark out b4 I was done. I also cut off a piece of a tomato plant, and put it in water. I'm going to try and root it, then plant it. If it works, I'm hoping I can have tomatoes all winter long!
