Please believe me when I say that was not my intention to insult you - far from it!

It was meant as a rather quirky joke.

I deeply apologize for any insult that I may have brought to bear.

I should remember that things on a forum without the body language and voice inflection, "sound" much different than they would be said face to face.

I do wish you and your wife the utmost happiness and long life with your family.

I am also very happily married and have been for quite a few years and I'm not interested in looking for a partner here or anywhere else.

I apologize if you feel that I have been somehow "hitting on you" - that was a million miles away from my mind and had never occurred to me until your post.

Again, I apologize for any insult, it was very unintentional.

Best to you and yours.

Thank you, I do enjoy your friendship very much. I was reminded that I too could have missed a joke or taken it out of context. I consider you a friend and our friendship important, like you said things can be taken the wrong way, its easy to do in forums, I will remind myself in the future to just ask what some one means. I apologize as well for my short comings.

:hugs

Thank you, and I also enjoy your friendship.

Let's move on.

(I'd do the little hug smiley but my computer doesn't like them for some reason)

I had purchased and nursed a couple Chester Blackberry thornless plants (Agway) the last couple years. The soil was good, I set them down for the winter last year, covered them with straw, and hoped for a a better/stronger plant as I knew the roots were needing to grow.

I let the the plant grow this year, set them down in straw again, and the stalks were hardy. Now the stems are dead, no fruit from them this year. I checked the stalk, it to is dead, but the plant has new stalk coming up.

I did check the chill time and zone, because a plant can grow in your zone doesn't mean it will produce fruit.

If the plant can't produce on second years stock because the stock is dead, what use does it have?

I did harvest, second year stock from my Chickasaw plants last year, 4 quarts of berries, yielded 7 jars of pint jam.

I pulled them from the straw today to find green stalk, and hardy stalk for this years harvest. :weee

Although The Chester Thornless will grow in my zone, 5a, it will die off and not produce fruit due to the chill time.

I give a big old thumbs up to Chickasaw :thumbsup

I have never posted to a forum before, and I find my short comings to be more and more each time I post.

I am taking the better route and the higher road before I insult any one further.

My journey in life is a never ending one, I always look to learn new things as well as teach people new things.

I am frustrated, and have to leave this where it is at.

Thanks for your kind words and advice.

Jason....

Does this mean you are leaving us? If so please reconsider.
I have enjoyed your journal so much and if not for you I would never have tried those potato baskets.

We all put our foot in our mouth occasionally - and - we all have days when things just hit us wrong. Well, at least I do. I am going to assume it happens to everyone.

This is my first post to your journal - hope it won't be my last.

You're not leaving?!

I've chewed on my feet more times than I care to admit, and misunderstandings happen all the time!!

This is also the first forum I've posted on and I also have a lot to learn.

Don't apologize for your short comings! We all have them because we are all human!! None of us are infallible!

I think all of us are here to learn from each other. Let's stay that course and grow as a community and individuals.

And I'm totally "digging" the potato basket dealies! I'm wanting to know about the trees and stuff you're putting in! And your GOATS!!!! You can't leave me hanging! It would be torture! You would be a total stinker if you did that! ;)

Me, on the other hand...I freely admit to being a HUGE stinker :D

Hang around J. I for one would like you to stay to learn from your family's experiences.

...And I would hate to lose a friend over such a small incident.

I don't know what I missed but don't let it get to you. It happens to most of us.

Long before finding my way here on SS, I was working towards being SS all on my own. I figured I was old stock carved from new wood.

With great passion, after reading Loris journal, my thoughts were " hey these are people just like me " I gotta stop and talk to them.

I often tuck my head in books, reading material that will help me to learn to be more SS and teach me things that I wasn't taught or forgotten. People have roots, I spent 21 years of my life getting back to the life I loved and needed.

Everything we do, we have a learning curve. Theres no way around that fact, sometimes it is simple, other times its failing more times than you wish until you understand it. From starting a fire with flint, to working the soil for a bumper crop for a couple years.

Having a plate of crow to eat is okay, pass the hot sauce, I'll eat it.

Posting to a forum is new to me as I am to you. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I'm happy about it, that makes me a better person. I think my short comings have been a fault of my own, not understanding how people post and read to deeply to what they are posting.

I feel selfish, and have some crow to eat.

It's good to eat crow amoungest friends, this way you can pass it around and nobody has a thing to say...

Thanks.....
