Jay.....do you have a smoker? Or even a grill you can smoke on?
If ya do, save the smaller stuff from that cherry tree for the smoker.
You'll thank me for it later. ;)
OH MY GOSH.... You didn't just say that to me!!! Oh my gosh, right I am doing that video next....

I can hang 6 fully grown deer in my smoker at once...

Mumbles.... Do I have a smoker????

}}}}Shakes head some more{{{{

I do enough of the smoking meat thing already, and process the canned deer meat for meal value and storage.

I stay towards hickory and apple rather than cheery wood, which my cherry is wild cherry, not good to smoke with....

My music pick for this week is a song written and sung by John Cougar Melloncamp, Rain on The Scarecrow.

If you watch the first 40 seconds of the video, come back and post your thoughts on those three farmers and what they have to say. I felt like them before.

I feel like there are more problems here in America that we can solve by getting our farms back up and running again. I am so angry about the price of food and its lack of nutritional value.... It makes me want to buy the biggest tractor in the world and set the plows and just drive evry where I can set plows down and seed the earth...

End of rant... I am good now thanks..

A video, which was posted for just a short time has been removed from main stream media. The video taken from a Nuclear Power workers phone was posted and translated into english by a relative who posted the video public.

As I sat at my desk watching the video, taken last Sunday morning, a Japanese worker stated the following.

I know the amount of radiation that I was exposed to already means that I will die. My education taught me that I will soon die and I can at least make the plant safer for the next member who will follow me in. I am sorry to die, but this is my job, and if I can save the next persons life, than I will die knowing I did my job. So I will be gone in 3-4 days from now, please take care of my family. I have had little contact with them since this happened, but they should know my love is for them. This is my job, in life as much as it was in my death
I wept to read this posted on-line today, there is no honor higher than knowing what your about to do, will in fact, cause you your life. But it also will in some way save other peoples lives. I pray for him/her and their family. God speed....

Another earthquake is predicted to strike in the next few days within the ring of fire, but closer to the west coast this time. Watch out Gina!!!

If that prediction comes true, more serous trouble is on the way. Another report states that a whopper will hit this summer-fall.

Reading that quote breaks my heart. I wonder how many personal stories we will never hear. How many things that have happened that are being burried.

The Ring of Fire has always been something in the back of our minds. But you can't live in fear. It's does not lend itself to a happy life. Let's just keep our fingers crossed. I would like to think that all of the earthquakes have relieved stress on the earth. Not actually caused more. :fl

Right now I am continuing as I have been for years. Doing the best I can with what I have. Teaching my children and caring for them. I am blessed with so much. A lot more than many. I have to remember that.

I am also well prepared. I live 7 or 8 miles from the coast, on a hill. We will be fine. I hope. :hide

Someday, hopefully soon we will be able to move and have a little farm in Mo. But that will come in it's own time.

Thank you for thinking of us Jay.

So whats up in the garden?? Has all that snow of yours melted yet? Oh, I also watched the deer meat video. Very funny. Great job as usual.

I look forward to the next one.

Oh J, reading that made me cry. What a selfless thought. This person...knowing they would perish, continued. It remindes me of Star Treck episode, when Spock went in to the reactor area, to save the ship. :(
Dont forget to take pics of the flowers as they come up and bloom, I can't waite to see the Peace sign of flowers!!!!!

The garden is in a happy place right now, snow free.... Last year, before the incident happened, I had just planted my onions/shallots. So the weeds grew, and grew and grew..... Well I removed the felt mat (anti-weed though the weeds grow through the holes around the onions) now they have returned, so I will let them grow and weed those. Although I had already purchased onion sets this year, so I will return those today.

I planted a lot of flower bulbs last year, including a peace sign in my front yard. However, even thou others are blooming, the peace sign isn't just yet. I planted crocuses there and they should be coming up soon. Many of the other crocuses I planted are coming up now. So I dunno Deb...

Well danger is in the air this afternoon, a giant hail warning is in effect and I am right in the center of the warning area. Last hail storm, a couple years ago, I got caught outside and had to hide in the woods which offered little protection....

Working still, on getting my tiller for my new tractor. Its still really wet so I am not too concerned and I still have the BCS tiller I bartered for and that will do the job as well.

I have all my seeds for this years garden in the dirt now, with warming mats on, lights on 9 hours a day, a small fan to move the air.

Cold frame is planted, more water bottles filled with rock salt and water have been added.

I did get some morel mushrooms last year from the plot I planted a few years ago. I planted or bought two of the mixes which contained spores of the fungi, and in the second year, nothing came up. But last year, although they weren't huge, I did get a few dozen. I ate some of those and dehydrated some as well. I had forgotten about them until yesterday when I found them in the freezer.... YIPPY!!!

Have a great day SS friends!!!
