2 ducks are now laying! We have already gotten a request for duck eggs from someone DH works with.

I went out into the deep freeze to take some photos of the goats for reference now that they are halfway through their gestation. The photos actually make the look slimmer than they really are  Why doesn't it work that way for photos of me :D

So here's Perdy. I still hate her name but changing it isn't happening. She says "hi". She's a total sweetie. They both are.

Perdy is 4 years old and really carrying low and deep.

She's also starting to bag up already, hard to see through all the fuzz. Like my outdoors hay feeder? :p I used what was handy one day and haven't tried anything else.

Rory was being difficult, so I'll have to go out again after my hands thaw for some better photos

That is right when mine are due. I think my Molly is Feb 9 or 10 and Ginger Feb 13!

From the side view, yours are so much lower!

But yours are full size goats, right? Mine are minis on their first freshening.

How fun we could be "kidding" together, Java!

Kidding partners! How fun, I can't wait!
Mine are mini Lamanchas. Perdy is a 1st generation, so she's on the big side. Rory is her daughter, second generation and is a slight bit more petite. I can't wait to see their kids - they should be quite small because both girls were bred to a third generation buck. He was a really nice size, about half the size of Perdy.

I think this is Perdy's 4th freshening and Rory's 2nd. Rory had triplets her first time, so I'm preparing for alot of kids.
The best thing about these two is that they raised their kids together last spring, they shared nursing duties.

So yours will be full mini-manchas. Mine are mixes of mini nubian with nigy you may remember. We are really hoping for some females! We will probably just fall in love with and keep any we get. So we have hardened our hearts to selling any males asap.

Are you building a kid box? I've been thinking it could be a good idea, but it isn't really that cold here. The coldest we have ever experienced is 9 degrees in the 15 years we have lived in WA, but usually the coldest it gets is the low teens and for short bursts only.

OFG, I like cold weather, but yeah - this is ridiculous! Wind chills in the teens and/or single digits is no fun for anyone. We had to do more weather proofing for all the critters last night to shield them from this wind. Our yard is like a wind tunnel :/

But they survived the night just fine. And for some reason yesterday we got more eggs out of the hens than we have in months! I guess they don't mind so much.
