I do not make soap. The crafty gene skipped me :D. Just thinking about crafty things makes my brain wig out. My daughter might give it a try - she loves all that stuff.

My head disagrees. Colors, shapes, scents = craft. If I can't eat it, it's a craft  It's OK though, there's plenty of other people here willing to try so I feel the need.

The first recipe I tried is very easy and has come out all five times I have made it. I think soap is probably easier than cheese.

You do not have to use color or fragrance. Because of my family's allergies, I do NOT want unnecessary ingredients in my soap. And goats milk makes your soap really really nice. I actually use it on my face and I have ultra dry skin and never used to use any regular soap at all.

Java if you PM me your address I'll mail you a bar of mine and you can see if you like this recipe, if you ever feel like trying it. Let me know!

You guys are just determined to talk me into soap, huh? Once I have more milk that I know what to do with, we will see about it. I'll wait to take you up on your bar offer until then SD. That's so sweet of you!

We disbudded all the girls today. The hardest part was holding their heads still, and neither one of us could hold the iron on for even 5 straight seconds because of the struggling. They are surprisingly strong. There were a few touch up spots to do. I hope we got them good enough - it's really hard to tell on the dark headed ones. I give us a grade of B-. Good effort, but I don't think we got them as good as we could have.

It's almost time to start some seeds. I think I have some broccoli and kale and other cole crop seeds somewhere. After the disastrous results last year (bugs and weather), I thought I wouldn't waste my time with spring stuff again. But then I got a deal on some netting so that should take care of the bugs. Now if the weather would comply...
I also need to find a new place to garden now that the goats have taken that spot. Gonna give that tiller a workout this year!

The goats are doing great. They are all fine after the disbudding. Their personalities are really starting to show and they are all very different.

We have Leah our "pick me" girl. The petite one. She wants all the attention, all the time. She will do anything to get into your lap. A little obnoxious, but she's so loving that it's OK.
Then there's the Buckling. He's all about "can I eat it? and humping"
Silver is the adventurous, athletic girl.
Rachel is shy and sweet, but playful. Likes goats more than people.
And Dinah is like a mini adult. She's a carbon copy of her mother's personality - reserved yet a little curious and likes to be present but not the center of attention. She follows her mama around and copies everything she sees Perdy do and it's very cute. She's our keeper and I think she will do very well here if she accepts being handled.

:woot on the disbudding!

I agree - they're much stronger than you think. I know I got my girls pretty well, but there is an area on the little white one that I'm just not sure about. Sicko me wants to hold her down and get that area again, but the sensitive side of me....wait....do I have a sensitive side??? I think it's here somewhere - let me find it real quick

OK There it is! That side knows that's just me being mean and a perfectionist. So I'll let her be....for now!
