So, with the cooler crisp mornings.....the animals are getting a little frisky. This morning after feeding...my Ewe Nelly went over to the fence where the Rams are....and proceeded to try to get their breakfast. ... as usual. Well, this morning the Rams would have nothing of it, and Sonny did what Rams do! He rammed her through the fence....breaking one of her horns!!!!! Its not bloody, just a few drops of blood....but looks terrible. Should I just leave it to fall off on its own or call a vet? Im thinking it should be OK, in a few days, as long as I spray it with "Wound coat" What do you all think??

it is extremely painful for her

I had a ripped horn from the head

ugh with tons of blood happening but she survived and we doctored on her--yea I took off the horn and that goat cried bloody murder but when done she was fine and no pain and it healed great

I would rip off the rest of the horn
and put on some meds and watch it

don't leave that horn dangling cause every movement will hurt her at this point

I tried to get a hold of it....its still firmly attached! She went beserks when I tried...so I left it. Maybe later when my neighbor gets home, she can go out there and help me remove it.

yea she will go nutso on you big time

the screams just freaked me out from my goat but you have to remove that dangling horn for sure for the best and fastest healing

bring a good pair of cutters and snip off the remainder
she will fight ya big time but it is the best medicine for this problem

Ugh, my stomach is tightening up in knots just reading this! Poor you! Poor ewe! :p My Ginger knocked off a scur last night, but no blood. I hope she knocks the other one off so I don't have to take care of business. Very different from actual horns, though. Yikes.
