27 Oct. Wow, what a day! Started with feeding and watering...just like any other day. Then I remembered I needed to go to the feed mill to get feed. Dangit. Had to get changed, then run into town. Put on my only pair of jeans without a hole in them. Got home, and went straight to the barn, to unload...RIIIiiiiiiip!! Well I will be a son of a rattlesnake! Caught my jeans on a nail! So I say to the sky...Oh, so you want to be THAT way hu!?? :/ Finished with the unloading then went to work on the shelters. With the rain and wind we got the other day, I noticed they got wet inside, so I had to put protection on the outside of them. Both are finished....I hope. Built a new roost for one of the Banty pens...got 5 loads of laundry on the line, and off and put away! LOL Stripped the beds...and cleaned the family room. Whew! Hubby came home from work and went straight to bed. Said he is not feeling well. Uh oh..not good! Tomorrow I will be canning tomato sauce...I hope.

Busy, busy. My neighbor was staying with us while her landlady was putting in a new modular home. They said...oh, maybe 2 weeks...3 tops. Yeah, how about 6 weeks?? Jeesh! She finally was able to move in last Wednesday. I tore into the spare room to get it cleaned for the next "guests" who will be here...Wednesday. My son is coming from OK, to pick up his son for a few months, and his MIL/FIL to be are bringing him, along with his BIL. So, 4 more guests, for 2 days. They will be leaving Thursday morning/afternoon....and I will have to scramble to get it cleaned because Thursday evening, my sister is coming to spend the weekend. She will leave some time Sunday...and another dear friend is coming for a day visit Sunday some time. Whew! So today I spent getting the laundry finished...put 2 pans of Lasagna in the freezer...and cleaned the bathroom, ran the sweeper and just picked up "stuff" LOL Tomorrow I will run the dust rag and try to get the front porch cleaned...plan a few more quick meals...and clean the coops, I hope. LOL
Oh.....so I had the Ram in with the ewes. This morning I went out to feed, when I was confronted by my ram!! He actually charged me twice!! Yeah...he almost got me, but a swift pipe to the nose set him back a few steps. Whew! He went back to the other pen. I will put the girls in HIS pen...the one I don't have to go through to get to the barn! LOL I don't know what I was thinking having him in the main pen. Im just glad he went back to his pen without fighting me...I am pretty sure I would have lost that fight. LOL OK, Im worn out, and headed to bed.

Glad you're safe now. Bad Mr Ram. He should be grateful to you for giving him a chance to get some.

When are you going to have a chance to take a breath?

Oh goodness that is a lot of different company in a short time. But some days just go like that, don't they!

Stepson's girlfriend wants to get me nice clothes for christmas. I told her I have nice clothes, I just don't wear them, because as soon as I do, I wreck them. If I don't end up with paw or claw prints on them, it's chicken poop or mystery yard gunk. If none of those happen I spill my spaghetti sauce or catch them on a latch or a nail or something. So the nice clothes are packed away only to be brought out, when I have enough notice of an event that I have time to prepare and dress nicely for. I really do not need more nice clothes to pack away in a box for safe keeping
Now if she wants to get me some nice hoof clipping tools....

clothes is a sore subject with me also on the farm

I went shopping in good clothes, thought, I will take this CHANCE and run down to the barn and let out the goats....yup, ripped my great shirt on the darn gate where the stupid wire sticks out....big hole....just ticked me off to no end. Good shirt now crappy shirt LOL

shoes too, if I wear my good shoes down to the barn for ONE minute I step in oozy something, lol

I have 2 lives. One for real life out in public, one for farm haha
pain actually lol

for the ram, hit him on the horns they can not stand the vibrations, this is a wonderful way to whack the heck out of him if needed cause you can't bodily harm him, but it is the best method for backing off a ram or buck

The "pipe" was a long alluminum pole for one of those canvas yard shade thingies...the canvas is long gone. LOL I keep the "pipes" in various places...they sure come in handy around animals. They are white, and for some reason, really intimidate them to back off.
As for the company......I love haveing company...just not usually so many, so close. Because we are the only ones in either side of the family to have a working farm...we get lots of company..over nighters...weekenders. I just wish all these city folks would help more. Usually when its animal time..I get the response.........Oh, go ahead, I was getting ready to.." take a shower, get my laundry together, " or some other excuse. They will usually follow me and stay outside the pens, and watch...but most of them wont come in the pens.
Hubby and I refere to them as "blisters" They always show up when the hard work is done. :p
I too have "going to town clothes and shoes" Usually I wont stop at the barn untill I change, but once in a while I do, and yup, those clothes become farm clothes. LOL I seem to be running out of "going to town clothes"

ha! yep me too.. but my 'sunday goin to meetin' clothes are starting to look a lot like my barn cloths. i realized the other day i didnt have any other pants then the ones i'd just done chores in. yikes! it was easier in the warm weather but no i guess i need to head to kohls! drat. i hate having to buy clothes that i know someone is going to poop on.

;-)

justy - you make me tired! i feel like i'm trying to keep up with you - but at least we got a hard frost. that limits the chores.

but just when i feel like i shoveled all the veggies off the counter... we'll be doing these pigs soon and i'll have meat meat and more mountains of meat to process!

:)

Ah yes, winter.....maybe thats why I like it so much...the gardens are sleeping...the animals are getting fat with babies...the pantry is full...Now we have to look forward to breaking ice in water dishes, collecting eggs with frozen fingers..( at least the eggs are warm if you get to them early enough) Nothing better than haveing cold hands, and picking up warm eggs. As long as its warm and NOT wet..LOL :sick
