Almost Self-Reliant
Tanks,...as for the turkeys..I can't let mine free range. They just dont get it to come "home" at night. I think for all concerned...it is just better for mt to keep mine confined. They have a fairly large yard, covered....about 10 ft tall. So they can excersize thier wings when needed. I will be adding a few outside roosts for them this spring. They like to roost outside on warm evenings. I can't blame them...I do too! Well, ok, I dont "roost" but sleeping outside on warm evening...yeah..nice!
Bee, I have to say...the shutter pulls are because I am...well...lazy! LOL I am working on thier pop doors. I am thinking a large spring to pull them closed...with a rope from the inside to open and secure them...or..maybe a spring to open them, with a rope pull and a latch to close them? Hmmmmmmm...I will try both ways..see what works better for me! LOL Right now as it is, I have to go inside each pen, squat down, unlatch the pop door and push it open...then secure it to the fence with a rope, so it doesnt get blown shut and some poor chicken gets "locked out" LOL Its all about the ease of careing for them...for me.
