Tanks,...as for the turkeys..I can't let mine free range. They just dont get it to come "home" at night. I think for all concerned...it is just better for mt to keep mine confined. They have a fairly large yard, covered....about 10 ft tall. So they can excersize thier wings when needed. I will be adding a few outside roosts for them this spring. They like to roost outside on warm evenings. I can't blame them...I do too! :p Well, ok, I dont "roost" but sleeping outside on warm evening...yeah..nice!
Bee, I have to say...the shutter pulls are because I am...well...lazy! LOL I am working on thier pop doors. I am thinking a large spring to pull them closed...with a rope from the inside to open and secure them...or..maybe a spring to open them, with a rope pull and a latch to close them? Hmmmmmmm...I will try both ways..see what works better for me! LOL Right now as it is, I have to go inside each pen, squat down, unlatch the pop door and push it open...then secure it to the fence with a rope, so it doesnt get blown shut and some poor chicken gets "locked out" LOL Its all about the ease of careing for them...for me.

How about a tractor or electric netting? That way they can get to fresh pasture but you can still keep them confined.

I want turkeys..... so jealous! :D

Thanks. I just have the darn coyotes to deal with. Last night went a bit better. I wen out early, while the sun was up and sprinkled out oatmeal. One by one I just picked them up and carried them to their little run.

Not a permanent solution though. :idunno

My largest Tom is running about 30 pounds or better. I dont want to have to TRY to carry him anywhere....unless its to the freezer!:p
Getting snow flurries today and the wind is trying to blow me over! Its bitter cold out there.
Got a call this morning from my sisters...friend...she had to take my sister to the hospital. Last night she was stumbling, and couldnt form words...but refused to go in. This morning, same thing, so her friend...insisted she go in. First they thought stroke...ran test after test...no stroke, however her blood pressure was 180 over 160!!! The Dr's tried to explain to her that her arteries were going to explode if she didnt let them work on her over night. She refused...and signed herself out. :rant If she wasnt 1 1/2 hr away, I would go kick her BUTT! She did promise to go back next week, and have the corotoid(sp?) artery test done...but im STILL not happy with her. Jeesh! Please say a little prayer for her stubborness!

yikes
me, I am so different, I would sign myself in for the year just to find out what is wrong....lol

I don't understand why people won't take care of themselves.

maybe your sister was truly confused, ya know.....sometimes when things go wrong in the body the mind doesn't follow correctly...........so be sure she makes that follow up big time!!!

prayers are with you and your sister for all to be well ! :)
