So, today....its nice out..and I decided today was the day to go get those pens I wanted off CL. I called the lady, she said today would be good. They had plans to be home all day. I was not able to take the trailor...and I am GLAD! This place was out in B F E!!! Potholes in the roads a cow could get lost in....winding roads...gravel...wet...muddy. Whew! It was definately an adventure....and was just over an hr away. Once I started getting closer, I almost turned around and went back home, mainly because I was alone.... no cell phone reception. However, I decided, I came this far...im going to just go. After a few wrong turns....coming across " NO TRESPASSING, VIOLATORS WILL BE SHOT" signs....I finally found the place. NICE!! The couple was youngish...maybe in thier early 30's. They have 6 children, and are headed to Western Europe, for 5 yrs...with thier church. She just had the last baby, about a week ago.
Anyhow...I was not able to get the meat pen, that I originally wanted. She told me over E Mail it was about 8 ft long...no biggie, my truck bed is 8 ft long. Its NOT. It is 10x10!! NO Way I was going to get that on my truck. So, I opted for the "smaller brooder"
Here it is....

It BARELY fit in my truck!! LOL Thats a full size 1 ton truck! :clap
I tihnk it was well worth the drive. Oh, they were free....except for the 1/4 tank of gas I spent. :/

That is really cool looking. How the heck did you get it in the truck??

I think the question is are you going to go back with the trailer for the big one???

;)

Well...as for getting it in the truck, the man of the house and I picked up one end...layed it on the bed of the truck, then shoved and shimmied it in there. It got stuck a few times between the wheel wells. Getting it out was harder! LOL Hubby and I put it in the shop...untill I figure out where I want it. I might cut it in half...its 8 ft long!
I don't think I will go back for the other one. Like I said, the drive there is just a bit under treacherous....and I don't want to be pulling a trailor out there. It really is a bummer...I wanted that other one more than I wanted the brooder. Oh well....It made for a nice drive, and the weather was great!

You know.....come to think of it...I did hit one hole...I thought I heard a "moooo", but then again it might have been me thinking..."Oooooo, hubby will kill me if I hurt HIS truck" LOL

Not a whole lot going on here. Lets see.....I got rid of the Ram last Sunday. His horn was growing into his cheek...so that made him not a good breeder. I didn't want to pass that gene along. He was 2 yrs old, and still intact...so I didn't want to butcher him. I gave him to a fellow down the road. I am pretty sure he butchered him tho. :sick
I might have a home for the 3 pot belly pigs...still waiting on that to come through. I hope it comes through SOON! Then I will be down to the 3 Ewes...I dont think I will breed them anymore either. They will be for wool, and weed controll....untill I get my mini cows. Still trying to convince hubby that we "need" them.
Went to my DR today....no cancer! Woohoo! They saw a shadow on my X Ray...had a CT scan done...then waited a week and had another. The last one showed it was pneumonia...and was clearing up! Whew! That was a long waite! However..my back has been giving me a fit...really low around the hips. Tomorrow I am going in to see a Physical therapist. :/ I just need to feel better...soon!
Got the bell pepper seeds planted in pots. If they all come up...I will be over run with pepper plants! LOL I planted 18 red, and 18 yellow. I still need to get the green ones going. I am hopeing to put a fence around the "new" garden areal in the next few days....and put the pot belly pigs in there to till it up. MIght as well get some work out of them while I have them...right??
I will have to move a crate in there for them...as it is supposed to get cold again late this week. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
So, Physical therapy tomorrow...we will see what they can do for my back.
Spring has sprung...the grass is green..and I want to get out there more!!
