Yes Kate, it is a lot less humid. I just walked to the chicken coop....moved a few things around, cleaned up a bit, and threw hand fulls of clover and grass to the chicken pens, ( 9 of them) and I was sweating like I was running a marathon. Whew! Got the fans on the chickens....now to cool off, and head to the pb pigs, make sure they have water..and open the barn to get a cool breeze flowing. Oh, and I have to get a pair of gloves on,and remove the gutted starling on the porch that the cats left me. Thanks kitties! :sick

So, as some might remember....last year I was telling you about the summer kitchen we were planning to install. I had the kitchen cabinets, uppers and lowers, given to me, with counters and sink. I have an electric stove, and a small fridge. Well, with everything that went on last year, nothing got done with the kitchen. Last weekend, my Hubby and son got to work on it. :weee
The upper cabinets and counter with lower cabinets are installed!! We have to run water, and drain...and put in a new breaker for the stove, and run a new plug....Almost there! Oh, and this is in the garage...which we don't use for the vehicles.....and is air conditioned. We didn't put the air in, it was there when we bought the home. The previous owners had a show car they stored in there. So, here is a start...hope to get it finished before harvest time. Canning in the AC. WEeeeeeeeeee!

ETA: I have to sand, bleach, and paint them. They are the older metal cabinets. Then I will install tile back splash over the sink.

Oohh a summer kitchen!! whoot!!

yes, it's a lot less humid here today, too! It's still hot out, but almost feels like a dry heat - dry heat I can handle!!

Kithen is looking great!!!

Hey I have a question for you. I was over at BYC researching the Freedom Rangers. I found a post by you from years ago. Said something about trying the birds. I wonder if you ever did? If so how did they turn out?

Thanks

gina

HOT hot hot!!! Whew, where did spring go!?? In the 90's again today.... :th
This afternoon I have to catch the 7 kittens and meet a gal in the next town over. She is taking them to a kitten rescue up in Indy. The only thing is, I have to take another cat. A female, fixed, and all shots up to date. Hmm, sounds like a fair trade. LOL
So, remember when...back in Feb I think......I discovered that the neighbors septic was leaching into my pastures? I called the land owner...told her about it. She said she would have her son come check it. Well....I knew they wouldn't get to it then, too cold....March, April went by, nothing from her. So I called her again. She informed me that they didn't think it was her problem. Not coming from her septic, and that it was from the rain and MY animals. Hmmm, ok....at the time in feb, there were NO animals in there...the ground was frozen, and I had a black steamy puddle in the pasture. :barnie Well, last Thursday....I ended up calling the Board Of Health. They will be coming out early next week to inspect. I just hope this doesn't cause too much problem between us. I tried, I gave her ample time to get it fixed....but she has a reputation...drunk b%^ch.
Next week will tell, her problem or mine.

Whew! What a day. So, my grandson is here for the week. He turned 5 on the 2'nd of June.......We had a birthday party for him here at the house. At first I thought we were going to get rained out...but it blew over. Whew! My son had planned a water balloon fight, and had over 100 balloons, ready and waiting. Finally the rain blew over....and the fight was on. :p We had a hot dog cookout for the kids, and adults. Cake and ice cream sandwiches. ( easier than scooping it) Everyone was gone by 9:30 pm. Whew, a LONG day. The poor little guy dropped not 20 minutes after everyone left. He had a busy and fun filled day. I am sitting here with a cup of coffee...thankful its all over!
I did notice that my green beans are coming up...so tomorrow I need to get in there and get the fencing up for them. Woohoo! I wasn't sure they were going to make it with all the rain we had.
Not a whole lot going on....Wednesday....I get the rod out of my toe. :weee
I will be able to wear a matching pair of shoes again!!! :gig
So...the house is calm...and I am going to try to relax....then try to get some sleep.
Tomorrow...put the fence in for the green beans...and the lima beans..get the cages for the tomatoes and peppers....and pick the peas.
Hope I get enough to can. :idunno
