Monday...yes....finally Monday!
This was an interesting weekend...full of ....well...just full!
We went to the lake Saturday...spent the day with my sister and her hubby. It was so hot, we didn't venture outside but a few times. There were so many people there for the weekend...I mean..it looked like ALL of Cincinnati was there!!! And she goes there from Cincinnati to get away from it all??? At one point she looked at me and said, " Isn't this nice"? I didn't want to hurt her feelings, I know she really loves being there...but WOW!!! The people!!!! Everyone there has at LEAST one golf cart, most have 2 or 3...and they were ALL OVER the place. We had to leave fairly early..to get home to the animals before dark. Didn't work. LOL We did have a good relaxing lazy day. Didn't do a thing all day, but Ohhhh, I was sore from sitting all day! LOL
Sunday we went to FIL house, for a family cookout. We had a great time. Food, fun, family, corn hole. Hubby DOMINATED corn hole. :p He won all but ONE game!! Of course he is 6' 2" and had a bit of an advantage on the length factor there. LOL
We got home just before dark....did the chores...and was able to get in the house about 10 minutes before the storm hit. Whew! The winds were crazy...lots of lightening..but oddly, NO thunder. Weird. BIL came over to help with a few computer issues we were having...and they stayed until 3:00 am. :th Just chatting....but we had a good time.
It is raining now..I NEED to get outside to the barn...but I am feeling lazy again. UGH!
I was hoping to get some garden time in today.....guess not. Hubby is on vacation this week, I am hoping to get a little fishing time in...and get at LEAST 5 ricks of firewood cut and split. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Our lake (Lake of the Ozarks) is like that these days.

I remember it when I was small ... It was so quiet and peaceful and the wild animals were everywhere.

Well that part has not changed, there are still wild animals everywhere ... but now they are all riding jet skis!! :somad :tongue

The people across the cove from us own THREE cigarette boats (like on Miami Vice :ep ). So we go to Kansas to fish. :/

It kinda like Horse shoes...but with a wooden platform, with a hole in it...and you toss bags into it.

So, yesterday hubby and I really got down to getting things finished up around here. After feeding the "barn animals" I got busy cleaning the barn. YUK! It has been so wet, and hot, as I pulled the straw from the sheep side, I revealed maggots in the corner under the bedding. I swear, it has not been that long since I cleaned that barn out last. JUST GROSS!!!!! After getting it all mucked out, I put down a layer of lime...thick!! Then covered with fresh straw. The sheep came in and were jumping around, playing in the fresh straw. Silly things. I hit the small garden early, trying to beat the heat. ( didn't work) Whew It was hot out there. I was able to get most of it weeded. Then I started with pieces of chicken wire to "fence" the goose out of the garden. Oh, she was NOT happy! LOL She stood there honking and cussing me the whole time! Some days a goose dinner sounds SO GOOD! :p As I was finishing up there, hubby was finishing with the weed eater. He was able to get the willow tree cleaned up for the most part, and weed around the Irises. I really need to move those things....this fall. They have really taken over. SO after a little break, we decided it was time to get busy on one of the duck pens. ( we have 3 duck pens) The smaller pen was...well...small. MAYBE 5 x 8 with 3 ducks. They were pitiful looking in that small area...so, we increased their pen to a 5 x 20. Filled their new pool, and as we walked away they were splashing around and having a grand time. Happy Ducks.... :) After another water break...hubby got on the lawn tractor, I hit the bigger garden. I needed to restake the sweet potatoes, and attack the weed issue. :/ I was just over half way done weeding when my neighbor came over with a 5 gallon bucket of cleaned, snapped green beans. She had picked from her dads garden, and was canning them...she already had 40 pints, and was " over it" LOL So, she shared. Hubby finished mowing, I Was done in the big garden ( because of the heat) so we called it a day. Got cleaned up and hubby took me to pizza for dinner. It was nice to not have to cook after such a busy day. When we got home, I started on the green beans. I ended up with 24 pints!! They are not the kind I particularly like...I like Kentucky Wonders....these are...well...Big and flat. Not sure of the name, but, free is free, right? So, today, I need to get cages on my tomatoes...finish weeding the big garden...and we are going to start downing trees. YUK. My least favorite job. My other friend with the goat texted me this morning asking if I could come by today to meet Suzie, and talk goats. So, I will go to her place at 6:30 this evening....she said Suzie will be ready to come home with me on the 15th. :weee I REALLY need to get busy and build a stanchion...SOON! I am going to look over her stanchion today, and get an idea of what I need to build one. I have all the wood....just need an idea of how! Oh, and I need to get me a milking bucket...and a new feed can..and...Oh, I need to get busy!!

Maybe that's what these are. I don't know. But, we will eat them, for sure! I will try to get pics of my girl today, when I go there. I just can't wait to get there and meet her, and get to know her better.
This morning I fed the animals....opened the barn and coops..need to air them out. :sick Built the gate for the duck pen, I have to get out there and mount it, but need to go get hinges. Why is it there are never enough hinges laying around when you need them? I am going to go look into getting some cages too, I planted WAY too many tomatoes this year, but they were given to me left and right! Can't say no to free plants...especially food plants. ;) OK, back to it. Finished my second cup of coffee...time to roll out!

The new gate is mounted and painted on the duck pen. Whew! Its HOT out there. Several time as I was working on it....the goose would come over, nip at my shorts, or the extension chord...give her honk of approval, then walk away. I had to restretch the fence a little to meet the gate. However, its done! :weee I had just enough paint to do the gate on the other duck pen....now one more gate to go,and I will be finished with the duck pens...for a while.
Finished weeding the big garden, had a friend stop over who wants to buy Barred rock eggs to incubate. Oh, and he is taking my extra RIR rooster! :celebrate One pen empty once he is gone. Once the turkey eggs hatch out, I will be putting in a few dozen BR for myself...my hens are about 3 yrs old, and although they are still laying well..I need to freshen the flock.
Later today I get to go meet Suzie...I am so excited. I think I have time for a quick nap. ;) 20 minutes or so will do me good. Hopefully I will be able to get a few pics of Suzie, if so, I will get them on here later.
