What a great weekend!! My DIL came in with a friend, and my 3 grand sons from OK. Here are my 5 grandsons. My grand daughter was sleeping, and they didn't want to wake " the princess" LOL

They stayed until this morning.....we had a WONDERFUL time with them. They kept wanting to go on en "egg hunt" :gig ( to gather eggs)
Yesterday we had over 20 people here for dinner. I put a 15 pound turkey in the oven, and a 10 pound ham....made 15 pounds of mashed taters, stuffing, veggie tray, 5 pints of green beans( was not enough) and made 2 dozen white clover leaf rolls. There are a few scraps of turkey left, and a small bowl of stuffing. Enough for me and hubby tonight. It just made me feel good to see them all eat like that, knowing they would NOT walk away hungry.Oh, and yesterday, my son had planned to propose to his girlfriend, in front of the family. He showed me the ring, and put it in his shirt pocket. I begged him to let me hold it, or at LEAST put it in his pants pocket. He insisted it would be OK. Well.....I got the call that my friend was bringing her goat over on short notice...so I had to have my son go out and move the pigs around. Well, the pigs were having none of that!

After about 30 minutes of chasing those pigs, in ankle deep muck, we finally finished...just as my friend pulled up with the goat.
Well, just before dinner...my son informs me...he LOST THE RING!!!!!!! We searched, as best we could...but could not find it. It is lost in the mud...somewhere. I had a ring...gold cross with small diamonds. My son gave me for mothers day several years ago. So, I let him have it to propose with. Whew! I told them once it dries up a bit, I will get the metal detector out, and search for it...and clean it and send it.
So, the goat....ummm yeah. I milked her for the first time yesterday. She was a little jumpy, because I didn't have a stanchion...she is in a new place, new people. But I was able to get a quart! :) Not bad for a first timer, ( me) This morning went MUCH better, I was able to get a quart and a half...I sang to her as I milked...and she seemed to calm down.

I will have her until Friday evening some time. :) I think I like this...maybe I WILL get me a goat...or 3 LOL I drank her milk this morning....from what I milked yesterday...YUMMO!! Abby and I are becoming great friends.. :love
All the kids left this morning to head back to OKC. :hit I sat here for a while....listening to the clock tick...and had to get up and outside. The quietness was driving me NUTS! So I cleaned the coops a little, sat with the chickens and ducks for a bit...and gathered a few of the turkey eggs. ( cray birds are laying again) Now I need to go strip the beds, and do some laundry. LOTS of towels need to be washed. Maybe I will get a short nap...

So, everyone left Monday, late morning. They had to wait out a storm that came through. I kept busy yesterday...just to not be in this big house, alone....in the quiet.
Today, laundry day! Since I made pallets on the floor for the grand kids...there are lots of blankets to get washed and hung out. Its a beautiful day to get laundry on the line too! Sunny and warm.
I was able to get most of them done....tomorrow, same thing, laundry. LOL
Today's milking went well. Another quart and a pint. :) Oh, I think I like this!! I MUST have a goat of my own....or 2. :) At LEAST 2...so she has a friend...right? LOL
I am now on the hunt. :p
It is so quiet here now, it seems everything else is magnified. The cuckoo clocks all tick louder, I can hear cars...( that are not there) and the chickens seem to be louder. LOL
I am settling in for the rest of the summer to get things finished here. Come next May, we have to plan a trip to OK, for a wedding!!!! :D
For now, I need to focus on saving whats left of this pitiful garden, since the rain is trying to drown everything.
The turkeys are laying again....and I just put 11 eggs in the incubator. Hoping to get a few for the freezer at least!
This morning when I went out to let everyone out and feed....I saw COON TRACK around the duck pen. :barnie I will get that masked bandit...I am locked and loaded...ready for a fight!

A true farm milking stool....5 gal. bucket! Loved the pics and it sounds as if you had great fun with your family! Don't you just love those times? Pics don't do them justice and they stay engraved upon your mind and heart....fun in it's purest form, just loving and laughing with your family.

I had a weekend like that not too long ago and will have another this coming weekend....having my first ever yard/moving sale, getting rid of lots and lots of stuff, family visiting, campfires, good food, good fun. Hope we have as much fun as you all, Just! :)

Thanks you Bee, and Tank. Yes, we had a grand time! Fishing in the little pond, "egg hunts", playing in the front yard until dark...bonfires...movie time and popcorn. It just wasn't long enough.
Today started out well.....up and at em...milked Abby, fed the PB pigs and sheep...let the ducks out...opened the coops.
Now to get laundry on the line, and clean the kitchen...then make some cheese from all this wonderful milk! Getting 3 quarts a day from Abby...wow, I wish I could keep her all summer. She is just what I want in a goat. Friendly, BIG udders, easy milker, and she settled into my routine fast and well. Altho, her feet need to be trimmed something terribly. I wont trim them, but will mention it to her "mom" when she comes to get her. She is acting like she might go lame on the back left...picking it up while I milk her alot. The hoof is overgrown, and split. I sure wish I had her for my own.
ok, I am off to get this laundry out. Howp everyone has a wonderful day!

I hope you are able to find the ring. Isn't it funny how kids think they know better than their moms? I have been there myself! What can ya do? They gotta learn it for themselves, I guess.

I am sorry to hear you can't adopt this wonderful girl, as I am sure you would give her the care and love she needs. I have a hard time seeing animals not getting proper care.

Those kind of visits are *never* long enough. :) I know it seems to take forever to get used to the quiet of the house again. Thanks for sharing the pics.

what a great weekend you had!

we're hoping to have a big gathering of family and friends here Sunday afternoon. Only difference is, we'll get our fill of bodies and noise in the few hours that they're all here and will be happy for the "quietness" of our "small" *snickers* family come Monday!

And I think tomorrow evening we're going to try to get everyone down to Scio to our friends house for the fireworks :)

Abby is a beautiful goat! Wish I was her new mommy! LOL
