My Nelly wasn't that old...3 yrs. It HAS been exceptionally hot, and the humidity has been terrible. We really need a break in this heat.
So today was the last day of training...whew! It was a hot and long day. We had to be at the bus at 5 am. We got to the site at 5:30 and was ruched in to get our makeup.
Me and another gal was in line first, so we got the "kewl" makeup. Non Ambulatory....we can't walk. As I was standing in front of the fan to dry my "blood" a young man walked up, he had just gotten his makeup...he looked at his leg...looked at mine....and WHAM! He fell forwards into the hugh fan, then straight back on the concrete floor. Everyone around us thought he was playing...I could tell by his appearance, he was not. I got down on the floor with him, and lightly touched his arm, and tried to get him to talk to me. I didn't move him because he hit HARD flat on his back on the floor. Another girl came over, and I told her...this is "real world" we need a medic!! I was able to get him to open his eyes briefly, but they just rolled back into his head...and he closed them again. I kept talking to him, trying to keep him with us...soon the CO came in, I explained what happened and by this time we had a medic on the scene. I got up and walked away, as he was in good hands now. Talk about a wake up call! Turns out, he can't handle the site of blood. :/ Not sure what he was thinking when he applied for the job. He was ok, and they took him home. Poor kid!
After that all calmed down...we got busy... We had to get out there and lay on the ground, beg for help, and scream out in pain. The Gi's had to come get us on stretchers, and roll us into triage. They cut off the clothes, and sprayed us with ICE cold water...at 6 am!!! BRRRRrrrrrr!!! As soon as we were "released" we had to go get dressed and go again....4 times today!! By the 3rd time, the last DR on duty had seen me, he jokingly said..you need to stay inside, you get hurt too much! We really had fun with it today.
So here are a few pics of my leg...today. OUCH!!!!!!!

So last night, we FINALLY got some rain. I woke this morning to puddles!! :weee What a relief it is to walk on soft wet grass, and not dry crunchy grass. When I went to bed last night....or..when I dropped in bed last night....I heard thunder, and was seeing a little lightening. Must have been a good little storm, as we lost power at some point. Everyone is happy outside this morning...a cool 75 degrees.
Yesterday after working at MUTC, came home and cleaned up a bit, hubby was headed outside. So, I followed and we were able to put a new floor in the big coop. Now I dont fear falling through! LOL
It only took us about 2 hours, we laid it on top of the old floor. Finished that, got cleaned up again.....and went to dinner. Chinese. I just love the little China Buffet here in town. Had a good relaxing dinner...then came home and milked. My poor Suzie. The neighbors girl milked her in the morning, and only milked out half a quart! She was HUGH when I got out there....I got a full 2 quarts. Once I put her back in her yard, she was running and jumping around. It had to feel better! :ya This morning she was calm...glad to see me....and gave me a quart, and just over a half. Have I told you lately how much I love my Suzie?? :love
Today I am going to be working on the duck huts. Need more secure doors...with fencing on them, so I can lock them in safe at night, and they can still get good air. I have to get the other 2 outside SOON! My garage stinks something terrible.:sick Oh, and when I went to open the coops, I found a little turkey poult in the Barred rocks pen. By Buff orp is sitting on 5 ( now 4) turkey eggs. :D I brought it inside and put it in the brooder with the other 4 I have. It was a little sluggish, and cool...I am hoping it gets to feeling better soon. Once I get those ducks outside, I can put the poults in the bigger brooder. They are in a box for now.
So...Thats about it...Oh, wait...I have one more question.

WHY do some of my cucumbers have a strong....BITTER taste to them?? Man oh man that grosses me out. Any ideas!???

So today I spent a few minutes of "me time" by the pond. I had a load of fish food donated and I have been feeding the pond for a few days now. As I sat there, watching the fish feed....I was able to snap a few pictures. there are so many dragonflies around the edge of the water, and they are so pretty..

I can understand why that poor young man passed out. Those wounds look gruesome.
:sick

Sounds like your having a nice Sunday. Good to hear you got a bit of rain.

We used one of those turtle sandboxes for a dog pool for years and years. They are much more solid than those kiddie pools and you often see them on Freecycle or Craigslist for little of nothing. ;)

One question ... how long did that water stay clean?

 :gig

My sis used to be constantly cleaning her duck pool so they wouldn't "have to play in that dirty water". It is a losing battle.

Ohhhhhhh, about 10 minutes. I swear, I think they LIKE dirty water! LOL They get to free range most days...when I am home...so they have other water sources as well.
