SSOOOO cute!

PB pigs ARE edible, but you have to think of them differently. Just think of them as so much sausage, flaky pie crusts and soap on the hoof.

Its almost 1 pm...I have fed and watered 13 pens of poultry...fed and watered the 2 pigs, sheep, and goats...and milked. Watered the garden this morning...and weeded some...scrubbed and filled 3 water troughs...cleaned the kitchen, living room, and bathroom, and the pickled beets are in the canner now and the sun tea is in the fridge. Oh, and already had guests this morning, to see the pigs and fed the pond. I am headed down to start laundry...then need to dust and run the sweeper. More people coming over later....UGH. Oh, and dinner is in the crock pot. I have a pretty good size piece of beef in there, with taters carrots and onions....and of course, garlic :drool I need a horizontal pause! :th

So, a dear friend of mine came over yesterday. We have not been able to get together for almost a year. She lives about 45 minutes away. She was coming this way to visit her dad, and wanted to see the piggies. She showed up while I was mowing, so THAT didn't get finished. Oh well....another day to mow. She brought me a large box of peaches from her tree. Looks like today I will be canning peaches...LOL
She also asked me why I didn't have a website for the farm. Well, lets see...they cost a lot...and I have NO IDEA how to get started. She told me that she is now building websites for businesses and farms, and that she wanted to build one for me....free of charge! So, hopefully in a few days... I will have a link for everyone...for our very own website. :celebrate Heavens Door Acres will be out there on the web for everyone to see and learn about what we do.
Today, I have to gt the rest of the grass mowed...and cann those peaches...then I need to work on the coops a bit more. Just shore up some fencing a bit. Once I get all the coops figured out, I will be looking for Brahma chickens. I have one hen, and just love her to pieces. Large eggs, big bodied...I think a great chicken all around. Shoot, its after 7 already...I need to go get my milking done!! Have a great day everyone!

So, Saturday, Aug 6, hubby and I trecked down to KY to my sisters place. She had a big BBQ with lots of food, friends, family...and plenty for all the little ones to do. She has 2 rail buggies, a blow up jumping house, swimming pool, tire swings, and woods. She also rented a cotton candy machine....which I got stuck making all the cotton candy. UGH! That flies around and sticks to everything! After a fun filled day, she set off fireworks. We didn't get home until after midnight. Locking up all the animals...after midnight...was a chore!
It was great to relax, and enjoy the company of friends and family. About half way through the day, my sister asked me and hubby to meet a the garage, she had something she wanted to give us. She had been to Florida...and found a guy who does portraits from pictures....in charcoal. She had him draw up a picture of our late son David, with his 3 boys. When she presented it to us, hubby and I just Bawled! It is SO BEAUTIFUL! What a great thing for my sister to do for us. She is getting it framed...so I can hang it in the living room. Then after all the fireworks, she again asked us to meet at the garage...there she had a Chinese lantern thingy...you light and send up into the night sky. We were to make a wish....and set it free...again with the tears....so thoughtful...so beautiful. After we let it go, I hugged her, then punched her in the arm, for making me cry twice in one day, LOL
This morning all the animals seemed to be happy to be back on track. Suzie gave me a full 2 pounds of milk! ( a full quart and a half) I have enough to get started on Merle's easy recipe of Mozzarella cheese. I think I might try to do that today.
Sometime this morning we must have had a pretty good storm come through. Several of the plants are laying down in the garden. So, I will get out there later and try to stand them up with supports and string. Everything was so clean and damp this morning when I went out..I had to just stand there and take it all in for a few minutes. I could hear the entire farm just sigh in relief of the rain.
I guess I need to get off my bum........and get this day going. Animals are all settled in for the day...fed, watered, let out.....Suzie and all the barn animals are taken care of...now I need ot hit the garden before it gets too hot! 93 again today....with high humidity. Yes...sounds like a good day to stay inside, and play with cheese!
