"Have you listened to the Earth? Yes, the Earth speaks, but only to those who can hear with their hearts. It speaks in a thousand, thousand small ways, but like our lovers and families and friends, it often sends its messages without words. For you see, the Earth speaks in the language of love. Its voice is in the shape of a new leaf, the feel of a water-worn stone, the color of evening sky, the smell of summer rain, the sound of the night wind. The Earth's whispers are everywhere..."
Steve Van Matre

It's been an icky week here and we haven't been able to get much done outside. I think we may never get the garden in....:( We've been having some serious tiller malfunctions and ended up having to borrow a friends. And then its rained all week so we still haven't been able to get anything done with it anyway.

But I'm gonna experiment with a lasagna garden this year so maybe we can just bypass all of these stupid tiller issues. :fl

And if you could send any prayers, good thoughts and vibes to a local family that was involved in a car accident. We happened to witness it and were able to help however more is coming to light about the actual cause of the accident...and it's not good. We assumed there was more to the story giving the things we witnessed, and the family is gonna needs lots of support to get through all of this right now.

And after we tromped through the weeds where they landed I came home to realize that I had poison ivy...EVERYWHERE!!!! It's been soooooo bad. I don't think I've even ever had it before, at least not this bad!!! :barnie I've been researching good homeopathic ideas to help heal it up...any good ones out there?? :D

Another benefit of having goats--OFG swears the eat up all the poison ivy. Yay--evil goat gets a real job!!!.

I sincerely hope you get ove r the itch quick. I can honestly say i have never had it, and never want it,but fondly remember chicken pox. --- just don't scratch Oatmeal baths work well too, calamine lotion (although since I went all freaky with the healthy thing, I haven't researched that), godd luck, and get better quick!

Well I certaintly have lots of baking soda and oats laying around!

Yea, that's what we've heard that they eat it all up. And if you drink the milk then it helps with a little bit of an immunity of sorts? But I haven't really researched that either. But they wouldn't have been very helpful in this situation, since we were on the side of the highway in the woods/river. :gig

Ok. So I am officially COVERED in poison sumac to the point of it being painful to walk. And it has spread to my face. :hit

I finally broke down and went to the dr because it is getting so bad and nothing else is working. I've never had it before and didn't even realize I had gotten into something until it was way too late and I hadn't gotten it rinsed off in time. So I think if I had caught it sooner or even known what I was dealing with I could have done myself some favors. But too late now...

She gave me prednisone and triamcinoline acetonide cream. I really didn't want to have to take it but it has just gotten way too bad not to. Anyone have any suggestions for good foods, etc to eat while on this stuff? I'm supposed to take 2 pills a day for the next 5 days. I hate the way I feel already. Kinda dizzy with a headache and I feel like my breathing is a little funky. :sick

We have to go straight to Prednisone too, because we get it so bad and nothing helps. It sucks. I don't know about foods - lots of vitamin c, maybe?

OH NO!!! so sorry baby!!

so .. um.. ice cream for dinner is my Rx

but

you might need to up your prednisone. how bad is your rash? is it leathery and raised??? i had to start with TEN pills and work my way down. if you dont get immediate - as in the next day - relief you might need a bigger dose.

the sumac might be what is making you feel bad - fluish and gross and sluggish?? yep thats the systematic thing.

i'm sending you hugs!
ps get them stupid goat out there to eat that stuff!

Ice cream and orange juice sound good for dinner! Now if only there was someone here to get it for me. :( I hate when Dh works late nights. But he's off tommorrow so he'll be scrubbing the house down again...stupid poison ivy oil....

Ummm...its like bad. Bad enough for me to actually drag my butt the dr that I normally only see once a year...and that's a have too  Leathery and raised, check. Driving me to the point of getting out the saw and cutting of my extremities, check.

The sad part was that I didn't even get in here at the house!!! We were on the side of a highway and in a creekbed when I got it. Someone crashed their car in front of us and we stopped to help. Needless to say I wasen't checking the weeds around me at the time! And of course I had on capris and sandals...:he This is why I don't leave my cozy little cabin if I can help it. There are dangerous things out there...:gig
