I don't know how useful this is in his situation, but if you keep the core of the body extra warm, the extremities tend to stay warmer. I've been using this concept for winter milking....I look like the Michelin Man much earlier in the season than my neighbors, :p but my hands stay warm for milking.

When giving massage, sometimes a client's hands and feet are cold...putting a heat pack on the stomach/chest or another folded blanket there works very well. The body will favor the internal organs over the extremities when warmth is needed. This is why it is said to keep your head warm in very cold weather....the body will certainly favor keeping the brain warm over the fingers and toes. You can live without fingers/toes, but not without a brain (although I know some people who tend to thrive without any apparent brain function  ) or heart/lungs/etc.

I've not found anything warmer than down. They used to sell down slipper/booties in Cabelas and I don't know if they still do, but I used to have a pair. I couldn't wear them because they made my feet TOO hot.

Many forget that the neck is part of the head. Scarf/muffler along with hat.
Makes all the difference here in Alaska. If you forget your scarf, you will be cold.

Don't be put off by the price. Each bottle will last one person a full 6 months if the single dose is taken.
However, if it is being taken for more then just maintaining good health, higher doses are rec. by many.

Cayenne pepper in his socks.
Use Dr Christophers Cayenne Rub.
My friend who has reynards disease says it works.
That's because cayenne is a vasodilator. So, it helps improve the circulation by absorption.

When circulation is the issue, sometimes a systemic solution can also help. Drinking teas rich in ginger can create better overall circulation, supporting the measures you choose directly for his extremities.

Just throwing it out there!
Used it a lot when my Grammy had cellulitis and it helped her a lot.

Brightest Blessings!
