54 this morning and beautiful blue skies and sunshine at 6:30. The Ladies and Sam were eager to get outdoors and enjoy the day...since it isn't raining again! The slugs are everywhere from our week of rain. :/

DH has been home about half an hour now. We had some pb toast and talked about his night at work. Now he is upstairs sleeping. I'm drinking coffee and will be sitting with the flock a bit this morning. Then I have a book I want to start reading... re-reading. Just being quiet so dh can sleep.

No plans set in stone for today, just winging it. :D
Whatever you end up doing, have a great day!

Love the pic of Eleanor on the swing! It's still amazing to me how much personality a chicken can have!

Hope you all have a good weekend....sounds like you guys might get a little rest and relaxation in, that's always a good thing.

Being the Veg-head I am, I stuff cabbage leaves with partially cooked rice, cooked lentils and a bit of very dry cooked oatmeal, onions, paprika, parsley, sour cream and s&p. I top the rolls with my spicy thick homemade tomato soup, then sauerkraut and fill to top with the water the cabbage cooked in and bake.
My recipe requires more liquid because of the grains, and I do it this way so they absorb all the flavors more intensely.
I do not measure anything.

I especially like your idea of adding cider vinegar; will try that!

I loved the book "The Egg and I" !

I also found a somewhat similar book called "40 Acres and a Mule" (I will find out the authors name) about a city girl who marries and Appalachian mountain man.
