So, how did that honey loaf taste? Sounds good. Wish I could back (uh, bake) bread. :drool

I know it would help me if I could spend time each day in Bible study.

(Edited for spelling )

The honey loaf is good. It is a white bread with bits of oats in it (I used the old-fashioned oats).

You can bake bread. It is really easy. Honest. I made my first loaf at 9 years of age, I am sure you can do it too, Becca. Maybe one week when you aren't feeling so overwhelmed. Although, I will say that kneading the dough can be pretty therapeutic! You can even pick a simple bread like the Artesian 5-minute a day bread that requires no kneading.

I would be a mess without The Word, Becca. I used to spend the last half hour every night reading my Bible. It was a great way to end the day. Now I try to read a bit throughout the day and do my Bible studies at night. Beth Moore once wrote that when she was troubled she used to fall asleep on her open Bible and always woke up in better spirits. I'd be afraid I would just drool on or tear the pages.

I did make that No-Knead NY Times recipe a couple times and really like it. But rustic bread doesn't go over with my mom too well, so I need to make it for a crowd so it gets eaten up.

I used to have a habit of reading and journaling in bed before sleeping each night, but I got out of habit and now fall in bed too tired to even read a novel.

DH doesn't like the artesian loaf for pb & j sandwiches at all. He does like it with soup and stew. :)

Neighbors. I havent really had them for 5 years. I have them now. I like not having neighbors better. What an un-Christian thing to say and think. But it is true. But I cant say anything nice, so I am not saying anything else.

I got a call today from Mary at church. She is coordinating the train trip tomorrow for the couples group. I left her a message yesterday that dh and I were joining the group for the train trip. She left me a return message that I have been volunteered to head up the jam/apple butter team during ServeFest, which is Oct 11. I volunteered to help, not head up the team! YIKES!

As far as neighbors: "Love thy neighbor . . ." but, I don't think you have to "like" them. :D

If it makes you feel any better, I like having no neighbors better than having neighbors  Unless you were my neighbor, that is :p

Of course, the neighbors next to us now are never home, so it's almost like not having neighbors. And when they are home, they are always in the house sleeping or being quiet. My kids and chickens make more noise than them!

Best part is, these "not there" neighbors never complain about the noise in my yard, are polite when we do see them on rare occassions, and were enthralled when they heard my turkeys.

They haven't complained when my poultry have wandered into their yard, either, and the one time their dog got loose and came wandering around my chicken pens, they came over immediately to see if their dog had done any damage, and what did they owe us for it. Now that's the kind of neighbors I like! (Their dog only sniffed, didn't damage anything.)

I like my neighbors, but there is lots of space between me and those that actually live on their property. Closest neighbor to my coops doesn't live there. He only comes to mow occasionally and tinker with his baby pine trees.

We only had one neighbor at the farm a quarter mile east of us and between them and us was one of their farm fields. Then we were completely surrounded by fields. About 1/2 mile to the west of us was another neighbor, but they were too far from us to even see - with farm fields and woods between our houses. The years corn was planted in the fields, you could barely see the top of the farmhouse when driving up the road. We could hear cows, goats, sheep, and chickens from farms around us, but didn't see any neighbors.

I don't really dislike the neighbors themselves, just the thought of having neighbors. I haven't actually gone over to meet the neighbors here yet. There could be some suspicion that with all the traffic (day and night) next door and across the street that there are some nefarious operations going on in this neighborhood. But that is just assumption on our part. :/

I wish we were closer to you, QA & Becca. It seems you folks could use help and I am up here just sitting on my keester. :p It just doesn't seem right. While I am happy I am getting a lot of reading done, I think I am going to have to take my quilting, sewing, knitting and crochet stuff out of storage or it will be a really l-o-n-g winter.

For dinner we had cornmeal pancakes. I made extra so we can heat them up for breakfast tomorrow before we leave for our train ride.
