Thanks, framing fowl! We have been planting early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid mid day sun wilt.... ours and the plants. :D

TR stripped the church kitchen floor this morning until noon. Then we had lunch, watched an episode of House (Season 2) that we borrowed from the library, showered, and went to the wedding shower for Matt and Alvina. Matt is the son of our friends Pat and Ron. Alvina is a Liberian. Matt and Alvina will be married in a suburb of Monrovia on June 26.

There were about 70 people at the shower. Each person attending received a package of Zinnia seeds. A number of the packets are going to the bride and groom for their flower garden at their new home.

Each packet had a note from a book on flowers that said:

Zinnia means "thinking of dear friends far away, and everlasting connections, between here and there, between you and me."

I thought that was pretty nice. We saw a video of Matt and Alvina's new home. They are renting a 3 bed 2 bath home with front and back porches and a large front and back yard for $150 month! They already have mature mango trees and a small garden planted.

Now we are headed home so I can get out of this sun dress and put on some "play clothes".

Busy week-end here. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

ETA: PS - blackish grey pollen coming into the hive yesterday and this morning. According to a book I read, that means wild blackberries.

ALSO the white clover blossoms opened this morning. :clap

The flower seeds is a cute idea.

I am entertaining the idea of someday getting bees and I find reading about yours and the different pollens neat.

So that is what I get in my back yard each summer. Coats the grass and gets on shoes and dog paws. Never thought about it being from the blackberries along the back of the property. Often worried it might be a form of mold or fungus. Resting easier. :)

Had an extremely busy week-end!

TR is off today and we are just taking it easy. Puttered in the yard, but couldn't do anything really productive (weeding - BLAH! ) because it rained all morning. Now at the library catching up on email and TR is reading the newspaper while I am uploading pics to photobucket.

Tonight is Christian Cafe at church (chicken is the main entree) and TR is helping with clean up.

Recent bee pics....

Thanks, Lori! I have 2 more to make (they are just about done), and then Pat will have them all gathered up, blessed by the Pastor and packed for their fly out date of June 15.

Thanks, Gina! I talked to Pat today and she said Matt and Alvina will be coming to the states in autumn, so any bears we complete after June 14 will be packed away until Matt and Alvina can take them to Liberia.
