Ok, now it makes sense as to why they pay you when they do.

My DS said there was some coyotes running around with rabies when he was out deer hunting....said two of the neighbors had each shot one while they were out hunting. So, he called me all in a panic to make sure I was watching the chickens. He knows I will shot any dog, coyote, or coon upon sight in my coop!
We're completely fenced. With plus Titan on guard, we haven't had any predator issues. That is why I am anxious to get the fence repairs done.
I am actually considering a Livestock Guard Dog!! I am so NOT a dog person...but, I might be persuaded! If we get a larger piece of property and have more animals I will probably definetly have one. In my area they are going for about $800 my mom said so they are not even in our budget and I want a puppy so that it is used to the kids and trained the way I want. My DH would get whatever dog I wanted...he is a dog lover and I am the only reason we do not have a dog. My mom has been trying to give us a beautiful Brittany Spaniel for a while but he would just think my chickens are fun play toys and that DD's good dolls were chew toys!!

That is what my mom said about her neighbors Pyr. Even if they are in the yard with him if they take their eyes off of him he is gone! I will have to keep an eye on the rescue list and see if a puppy comes on there. It seems like this type of dog would become very loyal and I want one that will grow up used to my kiddos messing with it because my youngins are very hands on! So, if you hear of a puppy please let me know.

I would love to have a guard dog. My dog does not even know he is a dog. If someone broke in my house and petted him he would show them where all the valuables are and help them tote everything to the car. LOL

We got Titan when he was a year old and were the 3rd family to adopt him from the shelter. He let our grands climb all over him as infants and toddlers; very gentle with kids.
I should just fill out an application and see what happens. It says that they do a lot of screening and actually come out to your house and check it out. Do they do good staying in the house or do they like being outside because I would want the dog in the house most of the time. Kind of makes it hard for them to guard livestock though doesn't it??
