You betcha. I forgot about one in the tank house and it kept going for probably 3 months before I remembered to look at it. It was in a gallon jar, and I kid you not- the scoby took up all but about 2 inches of the interior.

I've never tasted kombucha, and have no idea what a Scooby is, but I'll be looking for it now to try. :)

My husband has expensive taste. He doesn't like it except for the matcha version. He doesn't like the grassy taste of matcha normally. It tastes totally different fermented. Not like matcha or normal kefir. Kind of fruity and with a sweeter taste. The PH is the same as the rest I make.

I only make up a little of the matcha kefir because it costs so much.

Scoby stands for “symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast" which is the beast that ferments your tea. It looks like a thick white layer and is quite sturdy feeling if you pick it up. I just was reading about someone that is drying scoby and turning it into a faux leather for clothing (maybe that's what vegan leather is?) But I can't help wondering what happens if you get caught in the rain?

:yuckyuck:lol:

I can just imagine that! Slimy swollen mess

Ive heard of drying it for dog treats. My dogs wont eat it.

About half the large fowl chickens will eat it. The silkies think it's some alien come to eat them and avoid it
