I have wanted barn cats sooo bad! We have 2 outside, calico and kitty. And 2 kittens inside patches and pumpkin, that are going to start going out this week. And 1 female cat that was given to me and they SAID they didn't know if she was boy or girl. Well a couple weeks later she had 4 kittens! So when they are old enuff to go out they will. Hubby is having a fit about cats in the house. I like it.

What made it worse is that the fluffy calico kitten inside loves to sit on him and just purrrrs. She knows who to beg!

We also had a guy bring out 6 pullet chicks- 4 red, 1 buff, and 1 barred rock. He brought his son with him so he could see that they would be better off here. And I was showing him our animals. He didn't want to leave! He got to pet the goats and sit on a pony, and feed the bunnies some grass. He asked if he could come back, so I said sure! He was cute. He thought his chicks would like it here couse the big chickens could be their mama.

AM I ON A ROLL THIS WEEK!!! :weee :weee

Was telling an old friend of dh about our hair sheep ram we got and how I would like to find a couple of girlfriends for him. So he gave me the name of a guy that raises them. The girls have been selling for @ 100.00 each at the sale barn for weaned ones. So I went to look and he has several colors including spotted. So I found a few that I liked and asked for a price on them and he said if I take 3 girls and 2 boys, I can have them for 30.00 each!:celebrate my ram is white with tan cow patches so I picked out a black and white, a brown and white cow patch, and deciding between another black and white and one that is tan black and white. ( if I can make extra money between now and then maybe both?) I have a person that wants 2 rams for 50.00 each so that will help cover some of mine!

Went and counted the hay bales I was given and I was off on the #. There are 25 total! I go threw about 1 a week so half my hay for the year is done.:celebrate I need to find a supplier for alfalfa squares for the goats and sheep though.

I had a neighbor call and ask if I had enuff chicks that I would want to sell a few. 40+ outside. And 80+ inside. And 42 eggs went in the hatcher tray today. Soooooo yep I MIGHT have 1 or 2 I could sell. so it depends on what size he wants and how much he wants to spend.

Hauled 2 of those bales of hay today. And going to haul as many as possable on Thursday. Going to go get the new billy wed.

Good day all-in-all.

Fantastic! What a score on the sheep! When you say you go through one bale a week, is that just a regular small square bale or do you mean a round? Oh what a dream that would be, to only have to feed 25 bales a year. We are more like 2,500 at this point :th

Ah, ok, rounds I understand. We go through about 1 round every 4 days on 3 big mares, but I dont feed them all round since some are in separate paddocks. We do approx. 2,500 sqaure or whatever rounds we can get to offset having to load squares into the hayloft.

Around here very few farmers do small squares any more. The 1 that does, he has a buyer that brings up semis and buys it all and takes it south. So if don't get him at the right time we are sol. But I need the squares for the sheep and goats. And when we camp with the horses. Look up "river vally horse camp" it is in farmington, ia I know they have a web sight. You might have to do a general search as I am not sure on the spelling.

I am going to find all my spare cattle pannels and bring them around and see about making a new pen for the sheep and goats. I took the pannels from 2 dog pens (chain link) and made a big circle and that is where the chickens are with poultry netting over the top. And that is where the goats and sheep are when not tied out. So I am going to build off the side of that with the cattle pannels to make a new pen for the sheep and goats till I. Finish getting materials to fence the gully. Then we will have a fencing party- ya wana come? Lol but if the cattle pannel pen is big enuff I might try to put one of the big rounds in there.
