Aw, 3 year olds can be so sweet! Mine was singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" to the kitty last night because "kitty is scared"

Hope your granny improves today :fl

Called granny yesterday and the kids were fighting in the background so she hung up on me. Guess it is a good thing they aren't going with me up there, huh?

Went to my beekeeping meeting last night, I was intrigued but a little bored at times. There was a mix of people that haven't done anything yet and some that had a hive this past year for the first time. They covered some of the basics but kept saying that they would cover more in future meetings (once monthly). I did purchase a book that is put out by MAAREC which serves this area that gives the basics of beekeeping. I am thinking of asking for a beginner kit for xmas from my parents. They recommended usuing the ones with the mesh bottom screen for control of varroa mites and better ventilation.

I'm trying to decide where to put a hive now.... :p Hubby thinks I'm crazy as usual.

Yesterday I earned 7 blisters! We got a load of gravel for a walkway around the flower beds and I spread about half of it yesterday afternoon and Chad did the back patio at the base of the back steps while I mowed the yard for 2 1/2 hrs. I'm tired and sore but at least I have something to show for it! I would have finished the gravel but chad wants to weed eat where he sprayed the grass and get it as short as possible before I put anymore down. I don't fool with the weed eater. That's his department.

I'm trying to get everything prepared for my trip out of town this weekend, went to the grocery store after my meeting last night and got some basics for Chad and the kids....Tyler says he wants to camp out so I got some nitrite/nitrate free hot dogs, buns, and stuff to do smores.

Maddie has her first dentist appt today and I will probably leave after that. I made an extra batch of pancakes to freeze so Chad can throw them in the microwave in the morning.

I'm trying to figure out where to plant the 4 dogwood trees that we got, we know where 2 of them will go but we don't know where we're gonna put the other 2. We have 2 maples that we have tagged out in the woods that we are going to transplant down by the front field once the leaves drop in the fall. I may go out and see if I can find some more to transplant for shade for the field. I really want to divide the front pasture into 3 paddocks and rotational graze them. Start one with the goats, then move in a couple cows and let the third rest. Rotate them once a week. I'll have to move the goats back and forth every day but it will give me an excuse to leash train them and get some much needed goat therapy every day. Gonna have to figure out some sort of shade/shelter situation that won't be an eyesore.

Chad has orders for 20 chickens so far at $10 each, processed from people at work. Gonna have to get together an order here in the next 2 weeks for that. Gonna do cornish x's again.

I'm gonna be busy. Trying to figure out where to order a hive from so I can tell Ma. I know I want all wood frames with wire coated with beeswax and not plastic. I would like the mesh bottom option but I can always modify that if needed. Oh, and just got word that one of our local feed stores is going to start carrying beekeeping supplies!!! Cool, huh? :ya

wanted to share a few pics of the new patio and walkway!

We still have to line it with the big rocks but you can still see what it will be like.

it will wrap around the front of the house and we will have a small patio at the bottom of the front steps as well to keep down the mud/grass/dirt

the kids made stepping stones at VBS and hubby set them in the gravel

It's Tonka approved!!!

Please tell my husband that it is "neat and tidy" cause he is always accusing me of "junking it up".....I believe the term is "Clampetting the house"....

Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude.

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol' Jed's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said Jed move away from there
Said Californy is the place you ought to be
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.

Hills, that is.
Swimmin pools, movie stars.

The Beverly Hillbillies!

Sung at the end of the show:

Well now its time to say good-bye to Jed and all his kin.
And they would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin in.
You're all invited back again to this locality
To have a heapin helpin of their hospitality

Hillbilly that is. Set a spell. Take your shoes off. Y'all come back now, y'hear?

That is the song that made me learn to pick the banjo. I decided I would work on learning till I was good enough to play it just like on the TV...at the time I was about 14. I can do that and regularly get requests for it from "folks my own age"...LOL :old
