Hi guys....yes we are okay...we lost power a few times and then completely Saturday afternoon until Sunday afternoon. The good news is that MIL is okay and so far not any damage to her home in Wilmington. We are okay...lots of wind and Chad had to go out Saturday and extend the trench around the goat barn but no flooding there.

The other piece of good news is that he and his friend T made $1000 on Sunday cutting up trees that had fallen in a neighborhood in Chesterfield where they got hit harder than we did here. He had so much work in that neighborhood that he took off work today to see if he could pick up any more jobs in the same neighborhood. The goats are happy cause he is bringing home all these fallen tree branches and they are having a field day! He took a vacation day today so he will still get paid but I am trying to convince him to use this money to buy his new shotgun cause it is money that he earned for himself free and clear and he deserves to do something for himself. We'll see what happens.

We were at granny's house all weekend. We left Saturday morning and didn't even get any rain at her house all weekend. Lots of wind though. Granny is hurting really bad and is using one of the electric stimulation things on her shoulder. We told the kids we could come back and visit longer when she was feeling better. I helped Mama and Daddy teach sunday school to their class of 3 and 4 yr olds and boy did they need the extra set of hands  My mom was getting really frustrated but the activity she had for them had too many steps and required a lot of fine motor skills that the kids just had not developed yet. I tried to help keep things organized but it was hard to get the kids to focus when the activity was clearly over their heads.

We left from church and went to the water park with the church group and it was really fun! They had 2 huge waterslides and one of them looked like one of those things that you put a coin in and it spins round and round the funnel....only you were the coin. It was nuts. Tyler did it once and told me that that one almost made him throw up and he wasn't gonna do that again. I, on the other hand, did it 3 times.

I left straight from the water park and drove home. I didn't get back until 10:15 last night cause we stopped at Dairy Queen in Appomattox and the kids took a while to eat dinner so that added about 45 minutes to our travel time.

So this morning I am going to go out and at the very least put some sugar water on the bees but I may try to examine the upper deep on the weaker hive to see if the pollen patty has made a difference. I'll be out there by myself so we'll see how it goes. I'll definitely wear long sleeves and jeans today. My granny told me that I had a "lazy hive" and needed to get a new queen but I'm worried that it is just too late in the year to requeen the hive...I may just have to keep babying this one and deal with it in the spring. My bee meeting is this Thursday so I will talk to some other members that are more experienced and get some advice on what to do.

Granny sent me home with a big box of dog toys for Frawg and Tonka so they are making a mess of the living room at the moment and having a wonderful time of it. Today I hope to get some History stuff printed off for the kids to work on for the year and I need to go on Amblesideonline and see what the recommended reading materials are for level 1. I need to spend this week planning cause we are going to dive into "school" after labor day.

I'm gonna go on photobucket and post some pics of this weekend and catch up on everyone here....hope you guys on the east coast made it through the storm okay!!!
