Our way of handling Halloween is that since it is a kids holiday/event we go with friends....Grandmas are more than welcome to join us, but we keep they kids with their friends.

We are up to our eyeballs in H1N1 here too. Several people I know have been sick. Not fun. They actually said on the local news that officials have stated that all of the influenza that is active in our area is H1N1 and if anyone has a fever over 101, a sore throat and cough....they most likely have it. :barnie

Well, we have been researching some farms in the area and we have settled on one that we like to get our goats from....Cornerstone Farm in Red Oak, Va. cornerstonefarm.net I emailed them today about coming to take a tour and reserve 3 or 4 kids from next springs kidding!!! I also am meeting the lady with the light brahma hens tomorrow to pick them up!!! So excited. We also purchased a post hole digger instead of renting an auger and since we can't get the goats till next year I told hubby that he had plenty of time to dig the holes for the goat fencing by hand. I said, "well, if you do 2 a day you'll be done in 2 weeks! That's not so bad." :hide

We also found a farm in georgia that has nigerian dwarf goats and their housing is just over the top! You have to look at this, it's like six flags for goats! doubledurangofarm.com They even have their own surfboards!!!
We are thinking of doing something similar to one of their barns for our goats.

I've got a big pot of chicken vegetable soup on the stove for dinner tonight, and the next night, and the next night......

It has rained for 2 days here and it finally stopped some time this morning. I need to do laundry but it is still just too overcast to hang anything out so maybe tomorrow. Kids are cutting construction paper and making collages.

I have a picture that I want to show you all......I'll give you the title "guess who's coming to dinner"

Those are the greatest pictures ever. The look on your sons face is priceless.

Last weekend my kids school had a Harvest Fest. Some games and trick or treating from class room to classroom. We went to that. All of their cousins go to the same school and Grandparents came as well. This weekend we are heading for the desert again. Something different this year. We really don't live in a neighborhood type area and no one ever walks up my hill to trick or treat. If we stay in town we usually have to drive somewhere to let the kids do their thing. I like the desert idea better.

Your goat planning seems to be going well. The gal I spoke with about goats sells the Kinders. It's a Nubian / pygmy cross. Cutest things ever. I wish I could get a few.

My SIL the overbearing but kind nurse called me yesterday to tell me they had Swine Flu vaccines at the county health dept. I said thank yo for letting me know but we don't intend to take them. She said "Oh". I really am on the fence with the vaccines. Like any parent I would be devastated if my children got sick. But we don't normally take the flu shots. I just am not sure. Sorry to hear about the folks in your area. It is very scary.

Have a great day. gina

Yes, Karen, screens are on our wish list. The house didn't have them when we bought it. I've gotten really good at killing flies with a dish towel. :D

Friday

Well, yesterday's brahma meeting was a bust. The lady's daughter has softball practice in a neighboring county where we were going to meet her to pick up the birds. She called me last minute and said that the practice was cancelled cause the field was too wet from the recent rains this week so she will try again next Thursday. Oh, well, I'll get them in a week.

I got a call from Cornerstone Farm yesterday and made an appointment to go see their farm and their goats next Saturday at noon. Chad wants to leave the kids here with my mom and dad, if they actually come up, but I want them to go with us. :/ We'll see what happens. Knowing my mom something will come up and they won't come so we'll have no choice but to take the kids with us.

Got all the laundry finished yesterday, Chad's mom is coming up tomorrow to go trick or treating with us. I'll clean tomorrow morning before she gets here.

I just got done reading America's Cheapest Family by Steve and Annette Economides. I think I am going to try to go to the grocery store tonight by myself. I have made a list of enough dinners for 3-4 weeks and all the supplies that I will need so I am going to see if I can get everything in one trip. We will still have to run to the store once a week for milk and bananas though, but at least I'll have everything planned out. My effort to save money by eliminating my trips to the store. If you're not there you can't buy anything right? :D
