Watching the weather now and our coastline got hammered! Chesapeake got 12 inches of rain! We got about 6 inches......MIL said that there were some houses that were really hit hard down in NC on the coast too.

Hope Ida leaves soon - we were lucky when she came through here. We got about 4 1/2'' of rain at my house, but it was light and steady, not a hard down pour so I don't have a lot of standing water. Lots of wind, but not too bad at all.

What a storm! We hardly ever have real storms here, they are kind of exciting but also scary. I hope you don't have any damage.

I'm glad Ida moved on past us without causing too much rainfall.

Sorry that it came that way though. Storm damage sucks...

Yay for going hunting! I haven't been out in the woods yet this year. Hoping in a couple of weekends I'll be able to go sit at least.

Goat meat is good. Had it at an Indian resturant several times.

Especially if you have eaten venison, you should like goat meat. We buy lamb for the freezer and probably eat more lamb than we do beef now a days. If you cook it correctly with a little love it is delicious and I have fed it to many people that thought they were eating beef and they could not tell the difference.

Cool, Chad went hunting this morning and he called me a bit ago and said he hadn't seen any deer yet but lots of turkeys. He wants me to sit on the field stand and he's going to put my BF down in the creek bottom, I think.

We don't have a lot of standing water but everything is squishy. :sick

The duck pen is a royal mess but no surprise there, right? :p

The broilers are ready and so am I. I think maybe next week we will start pulling out the victims 4 or 5 at a time. Granny and Papa are supposed to come visit next week so we'll have extra hands to help. I may do the 8 quail too. They are really worthless to me. Don't know what I was thinking there.

Granny sent me a recent pic of her new house and they have completed the rock on the fireplace. It is gorgeous! The cabinets are in too. She is so excited, I'm happy for her.

My kids are Christmas crazy, they want everything they see. My mom and dad brought some of my brother's legos last weekend when they came up so Tyler is done. We'll probably get him one more thing and stuff for his stocking. Maddie is getting my old barbies and she wants a princess dress and "wippers" aka slippers. I think I may tell my brother to get her the princess dress cause he loves fashion, ya know! Any excuse to go clothes shopping is good for him. We'll get her stuff for her stocking too and maybe one new toy. Nothing much. What I would really like is for everyone to give them money for some sort of activity like Little Gym or karate or something. Not that anyone would listen to me.

Last night we did pizza and watched The Wizard of Oz.

We have been talking about getting a freestanding propane fireplace for the living room. With the weather so crazy this year we are afraid we may get hit hard this winter but they are so expensive. I'm gonna look on the internet today and see what I can find.

Lori go to your local propane supplier.

I got my free standing propane fireplace there. They should have nice ones in stock. Mine was like $650 and I got it for $425. Floor model.
install was costly but I had them do it cause it was propane, didn't leave that one to Tony for my piece of mind. Total when done with full tank of gas and ready to go...$1200

100 lb. tank on the side of the house.

and that heat, WOW, it is warm heat. beats my electric heat pump any day!!

and it is my emergency heat. no electric needed to start and it has a thermostat.

last ice storm outage, we were warm...warm...warm....

Ugh... Christmas. I am so not ready.

I am excited for the music and decorations but the past few years money issues have really put a damper on things for me. This year will not be much different. I love the idea of pooling gift money for some activity, that is a great idea.

My 10 yo is really wanting a Nintendo DS for Christmas! UGH! Even if we could afford one...really would need 4 to make it fair....but even if we could afford ONE I would not get it for him! I don't want him tuning out the family and having his nose stuck in a video game every time I turn around. I finally had to talk to him yesterday and tell him to give it and explained to him that it was just not going to happen! The grandparents have been pretty good about getting a gift card for all the same store...either Toys R Us or Gander Mountain.

Thankfully we already have a woodburner but we have been pricing new onces and they sure can get pricey!

I got a deer! I got a deer! I got a deer! :celebrate

I posted a pic of my six pointer on the hunting and fishing section but I'm putting one here too! He came down the field right at dusk and I could see it had horns so I shot! Granny is bringing my mom's grinder tomorrow and we are grinding everything but one roast and the tenderloins. Beautiful meat on this deer. Chad was so excited for me! BF only saw a doe and today was not a doe day so we'll take her again when it is and see if we can put some meat in her freezer too. Can you see us doing the happy dance? :celebrate
