I can deal with the cold but THIS much snow is crazy. The Weather Channel is calling this the "Blizzard of 2009". It is still snowing here......if it keeps up this pace we should end up with a good 20 inches. I just went out to get eggs and check all the waterers and throw out some scratch to all the birds, which they whole-heartedly appreciated. The ducks have packed down a trail the entire perimeter of their pen. The funny thing is that Chad shoveled out a place for them around the house so to get to the trail they have to go up and over a foot and a half of snow to get on top of it! Silly birds......I gave up and refilled the chicken waterer and put it in the hen house and got 2 eggs before they froze and burst. Had to get Chad to thaw out the rabbit's waterer cause the spout had frozen. Let the dogs out while I was doing all this and they rolled in the snow and dug tunnels. They are so cute. It's nice and quiet around here but we do miss the kids. Last I heard Roanoke (about 1/2 hr from granny's) had 16 inches and had started to snow again. It should be over tonight.

Oh, and Dace, :tongue

I do pretend there is a change in seasons.....when the kids go back to school I pull out the Fall decor. After thanksgiving I pull out the holiday decor. Then of course comes the Valentines day decor. Before St Patty's day I pull out the green toilet paper, then as Spring rolls around my courtyard is filled with little newspaper peat pots.
when i'd go down to the Bay Area to work i'd just sit there and laugh laugh laugh at all them californians wearing scarves and hats when it was oh 65*. are you KIDDING ME?!?! hee hee hee hee

Lori - my cats have been glued to the windows where the birdfeeders have been strategically hung as 'cat torturing devices' - keeps 'em busy all darn day.....

Sunday

Chad had to go out to pick up our neighbor and bring him home this afternoon and he said that this is the stupidest county ever. They started clearing the secondary roads and they have only cleared one lane right smack dab in the middle of the road so that 2 cars that meet can't pass each other. We got almost 18 inches on the ground, it's not like you can just pull over. :he

He said that on some of the rural roads that aren't plowed yet he had people tailgating him so he just pulled over onto the left hand side of the road and sat there until they realized he was letting them pass him.

This is why he wants to move to the middle of nowhere and not have to deal with people anymore.

I am watching Meet the Natives on the travel channel and boy do I like this series! What an eye opener!

Granny and Papa are supposed to bring the kids home tomorrow so I'll get my babies back for Christmas. We'll put up the tree tomorrow night. Granny said they had been making paper chains and stringing popcorn while they were stuck inside during the storm.

maddie told her today "I need to get out of this house, granny. I want to go for a walk." So papa got them bundled up and took them out to play for a while. She said they have really been enjoying it!

:fl :fl :fl Chad called his daddy today and he said the land thing is done. He just has to go finish up some paperwork and it's a done deal. I have no idea what that means to him but to us we had better have a deed when this is done. As long as the land is deeded to us then I am willing to put the doublewide on it, otherwise, no go.

Got cussed out by a neighbor cause her driveway hadn't been plowed. She actually came up to my front porch today and screamed at me. My hubby is head of the road association (not by choice) and I don't have anything to do with it. I got on the phone and told him to call her husband and let him have it. He owns a construction company and has a tractor with a plow, backhoe, and numerous other heavy equipment as well as at least 4 heavy duty, 4 wheel drive, work trucks that were the first ones out in the snow. It's not our responsibility to plow her daggone driveway. We plowed the main road.......now twice cause Chad called someone and had it plowed again today to appease little miss I've got nothing better to do than yell at someone that hasn't got anything to do with it all. Then she yelled at me cause she couldn't get to the main road to get her aunt's diabetes medication filled (she should have done it BEFORE the storm like everyone else, again, not my fault) and then she contradicted herself and said she got to the main road but couldn't get out cause of an accident. I looked at her and said, "Okay, so you were able to get out of our road, what's the problem" Then she went on again about the main road not being plowed. I finally had enough and yelled at her that I didn't appreciate being b****ed at in my own front yard over something I have nothing to do with.

I will be so glad to move.

On a lighter note, the chickens finally ventured out into the snow today and ended up on our front porch trying to eat cat food

I had a wonderful time with my children today playing in the snow and wrestling christmas presents out of their sticky little fingers. Tyler told me that when it snowed they could open their presents. Then he walked over to the window and said, "Look mama, it snowed, guess we can open our presents now!" I don't think so! Don't you love the logic and planning of a 4 yr old! Then he did the same thing a few hours later only it was "when the sun comes out". Is it Christmas yet???

Lori,..as far as the neighbor :smack

I am sure you are happy that you will be moving,...I hope it all works out for you. Some people like having close neighbors, some don't. I have never had neighbors that was close, by close I mean next door. My neighbors I have there is like miles between us. That to me is the best kind. ;)

Aren't the kids sooo much fun this time of year??? My two can't contain themselves,...:gig the worst of the two is my 12 yr. old,...he is tore up because he has no idea what so ever what Santa is bringing. No clues!! Ha,Ha,....I love it! Santa has done a swell job of hiding things this year! :D
Christmas morning is going to be soooo much fun! :celebrate

Happy Holidays Lori !!!

Well, today I am still trying to recover from the holidays. It's a beautiful monday here in Va and there is still snow on the ground and I am watching the squirrels and birds try to get the chicken feed but my girls aren't having it. The ducks are even chasing the crows around the yard today.

I have errands to run but need to do laundry desperately so I am catching up on here and dreaming of warmer weather. My house is a wreck and I am trying to figure out where I am going to put everything. I don't know why my family feels the need to get my children 2 of everything. They need to learn to share, duh. Chad said last night that he wished that my family would come and live in this house for a week so they could see what it was like with all the extra junk they give us.

The good thing about Christmas was that I didn't have to cook a thing. My granny brought a ham and my mom brought a turkey and they brought all the trimmings. There is no way I am going to be able to eat all the leftovers. I invited my BF and her family over for dinner last night and they helped put a small dent in it for me but something tells me that my birds are going to be eating really well in a couple of days.

OFG- I got a new pair of muck boots too! And hubby gave me a $50 gift card to TSC so I will use it on stuff for the goats.

My little house was pretty cramped with 10 people in it for christmas but we managed. Most of our decorations are already down, still have to take the wreaths off the windows and put everything in the attic but that won't take long with Chad helping me.

Still don't know what is going on with the land.....we were supposed to go see my FIL this weekend but when we called to see what time he said that one of his patients was sick and he didn't want the kids around her until he could get her to the doctor and find out what was wrong. That made DH cry. He doesn't have a good relationship with his dad, he's always putting him off and making him wait and giving him excuses and then backtracking to try to make it better, all the while doing whatever his other 2 children want the second they want it.

There's always one in every family isn't it?

All in all the holidays weren't so bad but I am glad it's over and things can get back to normal.
