Oh yeah, it was Chad's idea and it worked great!

Well, it started snowing about an hour ago and we already have 2 inches. Chad is stuck behind an accident (already, what is wrong with people?) and can't get home yet. He's about 10 minutes from the house and says that it is snowing so hard that it looks like fog. He did say that it was pretty, though! He is sitting at a local dairy farm looking at all the fields covered in snow. Pizza is in the oven, tub is full of water, animals are taken care of, getting ready to go close up the birds for the night as soon as the pizza comes out of the oven.

Stay safe, everyone that is in this storm!

My ducks are khaki campbells, blue swedish and blue swedish/runner duck crosses. I have two drakes and 5 hens and they all get along. Sometimes the bigger drake chases of the smaller, but it's never been violent and the smaller drake is, um, happy enough, if you get my drift?

About 10 inches of snow here so far......a foot my a**. It's supposed to snow for another 20 hours! This is nuts.

I just got a ton of snow dumped on my head courtesy of my dog's kennel tarp ripping above my head  It was pretty funny....looked like something out of America's Funniest Home Videos, I'm sure! CHad sure got a good laugh out of it!!!

Still have power, I have set the thermostat on 72 to give us a few extra degrees if we lose power. Both tubs are full of water and I have some extra empty waterers for all the animals to switch out in the morning while the others thaw. Chad also went and got a little propane camping stove so we can cook if need be. Just called granny to check on the kids and they are fine, enjoying the snow.

All is well for now....

Lori we are working on 10 inches here now. I am afraid my chicken lot is going to collapse from all the weight! This snow is wet and heavy, great for playing in! It is still coming down hard too. How bout over your way??

We got a solid roof over the chicken run, finally, so I'm not worried about that, I took a rubbermaid bin and turned it on it's side, put some straw in it and covered it in a blanket on the porch for the cats and they are snug as a bug in a rug!

Well, folks this is just plain ridiculous! We have close to 18 inches and it does not show any signs of stopping. We had to dig out the ducks and chickens and quail this morning to even get to their waterers. The crazy ducks tried to walk all around the yard in a foot of powdery snow and just kept sinking. The dogs are loving it though and are having a blast chasing each other around the yard in between naps. Still have power and hubby was able to take a pole and clear off the satellite dish so we even have tv. We are getting ready to eat lunch but everything is good so far! How's everyone else?

I know what you mean about crazy ducks! :gig

Mine kept standing on their frozen pool and yelling at me last week. They did not believe me when I told them it wasn't my fault it was so cold the water froze.

a couple days ago my little Mollee flew down to the pond, slid 3/4s of the way across and sat there looking at me accusingly. i told her it was frozen. she sulked out there for a while and then came in. sad duckies!!!
