Oh WZ I know you're right and it's very depressing. No rice, bagel, grits, oatmeal, crusty bread, cookies????

:th
After some time has passed, give real sourdough a try. Its very traditional, and easily absorbed, as long as you do nto have an actual gluten intolerance or allergy.
I was reading a little about sour dough in the article WZ posted. That looks like something I will try. I don't think I have an allergy to gluten I think it's more the fact that I've over-indulged lately. :sick

Coffee can contribute to acid reflux. Some people get diarrhea with it too, but that varies. The other symptoms could be from too much processed foods. Ditching white flour and the sugar would be smart.

You over eat when you aren't getting enough nutrition. You can eat a lot of food and still be starved on the cellular level. This happens if you eat food that is empty calories or you eat food that triggers a big insulin response. Insulin is a fat storage hormone so the more floating around in your body, the more energy goes to fat storage instead of to nourish your cells.

Hummmm......be pregnant again or give up rice and bread?? That's a toss-up, both sound miserable.

The good news- I've been eating only about 1 cup a day (if that) of the bad carbs and my belly feels great and has reduced in size!!.....The bad news- I have strep throat and I think my husband has it.

The good news- My son has been away all weekend so he's not sick....The bad news- I've got to disinfect the whole house before he comes home today.

The good news- My RIR went broody! The bad news- She went broody under the front porch.

The good news- I've got the bean and zucc plants I started indoors in the ground outside....The bad news- A hawk got another one of my bantam hens.

The good news- I took a cute pic of DH and DD as a tribute to American Gothic....The bad news- I can't seem to add it for my Avatar. ?

I'll give that a try. I know one year my dad made a "scare deer" which he used two pie pans hanging by the garden. It seemed to work. Now if we can figure out how to make a "scare worms, beetles, and bugs".

Yesterday was a good day overall except when we got home from the feed store (two new Americana chicks in hand :D ) There was a skunk right in the middle of the yard eating (or trying to finish killing) my RIR hen with the bum leg. The hen hops around the yard with only one good leg but does pretty good and here she was laid on her side with a skunk EATING her. Did I mention this is broad daylight (4:30pm)! DH grabbed the water hose and tried to shoo the skunk off. It sorta limped away but then came back so I told DH get the gun. He shot the skunk and the hen (who was sorta still alive but not moving much). I don't know if the skunk got hurt when it was going after the hen but it sure didn't move very fast. I'm trying to imagine what the pursuit looked like with a limping skunk going after the limping hen.

Wow! That doesn't sound good. It's probably a good thing I don't have the door to the chicken pen opened unless I'm home. I'm sure Henrietta would have been eaten a long time ago.
