Yesterday I got out there and put the last 16' section of hog fence up. I made a temporary home out of two bales of hay and a board over the top. I still need to make the gate which I started to work on yesterday until I realized my 45 degree angles were all wrong. :somad Anyhow, I put the pig in the pen and she was so happy. She would prance and run play in the little bit of dirt from where we dug the posts. So as I'm standing there feeling quite satisfied it accured to me that the holes in the hog fence are probably big enough for her to get thru. The first two or three rows are too small but the other holes are larger. If she wanted to put her two feet up on the fence and give a little jump she would make it thru. Anyhow, I just left her in there and figured I would be close by all day to watch her. It only took about 3 hrs before she was headin' my way snout to the ground. It was pretty easy to lure her to the dog pen with a little bit of cheese but dang-it! Now I've got to go out there and wrap it with chicken wire. AND I've got to get some more 2x4's to make a gate since I messed up the ones we had. :he

I hope today is better! DH doesn't have to work tonight so he will come straight home after school and then I intending on doing a whole lotta nuttin' :)

Happy Valentines Day :love

Happy Heart day to you too!

What's a 45 degree angle?

Just kidding! You won't catch me doing stuff like that, though. I'm a horrible carpenter and whenever I try building something I try to eyeball everything and my hubby has to come flying in with cape on to fix it. I just stick to boxes and shelves now... :D

That's how my DH is ..... not the one with the cape but the one who is a horrible carpenter and tries to eyeball everything...you should see our kids' tree house! It's my dad who runs in with the cape and saves the day. He's the one who I went running to after I cut my angles wrong. Thank goodness for him!

Pig's looking for a way out.
Dogs are sleeping on a pile of straw.
Guineas are chasing my little Cochin hen (stupid guineas).
DD got her hand stuck in a loop on top of her doll's head and is now napping with a red mark around her wrist.
Rabbits are laying in the sun.
Cats are probably digging for moles or laying in the sun.
I'm sipping tea, reading SS, and getting ready to post to CL.
:p

Today DH has to work and it's just me and the kids. DH was home on Friday and we got a LOT of work done around the house. Got the garage cleaned out! Took our broke down chopper out and put it by the shed covered with a tarp. :( We need to put some money into it to rebuild it but don't have that kind of money yet. Maybe one day when DH can get a full time job. We also cut down some more small trees and cleared a small section I've wanted to clean up since last summer. It looks much better now but we've left quite the mess....time for a bon fire!

Today we are going to try to go to a farm just a few miles down the road. She is offering goat shares. I don't know how much she's asking yet. I wanted to go and look around the farm, make sure the goats look healthy, and take a look at her contract. I would really much rather get goats of my own but that probably won't happen until next summer. I still need to build a goat house and put up fence.....oh yeah and come up with some extra cash! :/

We're also going to get some free chickens and guineas from a friend who is moving and needs to get rid of them. I sure hope he doesn't plan to give me any roos!

Bye for now.

Last night I got some chickens and guineas from a friend who's moving. He gave me 4 blue coral guineas, 1 pearl guinea, 1 blue cochin hen, 1 buff jap hen, 3 black jap hens, and 1 white cocin hen. We piled them into the dog kennel and left them in there in the garage last night. This morning I put them outside while still in the kennel and let the other chickens and guineas come out of the coop and check them out. After a few mins I let them all out. Little did I know it was going to be craziness! The guineas had a gang war! After the dust settled they went there own ways for a while, then would get together and yell at eachother then seperate again. They ran in a pack for a little while but decided they didn't like eachother again. The new guineas went into my neighbors yard for just a couple mins but long enough for my neighbor to see. He came over here and asked if I would please keep my guineas in my own yard. I told him I would, but I should've asked him how I was supposed to do that?? Now you have to understand that our 15 acre lot is rectangular in shape. It also is surrounded by trees. His lot is cleared so when the guineas when over there they didn't hang out long because there wasn't any cover. Oh and one more thing my neighbor has a sign at the begining of their driveway that says "Cold Hearted B.... Drive". Lovely huh?

WOW.

I wanted to get some guineas but hubby won't allow it....too noisy. I'd do it just to piss off my neighbor(BIL) and his prissy a** wife.

Our first chickens were little japanese bantam roos....they were too cute and fiesty! I miss those little birds!
