Wow, lots of replies! Thanks everyone!

@okiegirl1:

I love the idea of adding seeds to it. I think my mother would like that as well. She loved the knitted hat I gave her, so I may try that for Christmas or something. We're poor at the moment and can't afford normal gifts. :lol:
Maybe I'm just weird, (no comments from the peanut gallery), but I don't like "normal" gifts. I always make my Christmas gifts and I love homemade gifts. I'm in the process of making pot holders and oven mitts for my homemade Christmas baskets.

I can't crochet very fast. In fact, I can't hold it right. Your supposed to be able to pull the strings over the one you just wrapped around the needle with just one hand, but I haven't managed to figure out how to do that. :/
:/ One hand?
I hold the piece I'm crocheting in my left hand and the hook in my right. My left hand also holds the yarn, holding up between two fingers so I can just snag it with the hook.

You'll get the hang of it in no time! :D

You probably could, if they were straight sided....here's a picture. http://mona.myartbliss.com/Image/removingdeckle.jpg

Oh, and I forgot an important part...the slurry...you put the paper (torn up small) in the BLENDER with a lot of warm water first and make it into a pulp !!! Sorry !!!!
Hmm, we don't have a blender. Is there an alternate method?

Maybe try a mixer instead? It may or may not work, but it's worth a shot. Just make sure that it's torn small and soaked for a good while. Maybe even cook the pulp water?

QueenRed, you wouldn't happen to be a redhead, would you? Our buddy, Hardly, would love to meet you.....after appropriate screening, of course..... :D http://www.sufficientself.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2275
Free ... would this be the same screen as for the paper making? Or would Hardly be better advised to use a larger mesh?

As to pulping the paper without a blender .... I wonder if a meat grinder would work? With very well soaked paper .... and a disc with large-ish holes. I've never tried paper making myself, though I know the theory.
