Multiflora rose is the nuisance that we have. I heard it was brought in to use as fenceline from Asia and then took over. Cattle hate the thorny things that pop up in their grazing areas. My farming neighbor sprays the roses to try to combat their spread, but the hill behind my house is covered in them. :(

I love SFs. If I ever get chickens, that is what I want.

We have both that and honeysuckle, as well as Russian olive and Autumn olive, all introduced species. At least we don't have kudzu. :/

Starting to crochet again. Couple of friends due or just recently have had babies and I've got to get gifts together. Not to mention starting on fall merchandise. Really it's the middle of summer and I'm thinking about fall :barnie

I have some Bluefaced Leicester spun up for a couple of girls from the fair. Their dad gave me a fleece last year and I am returning the favor by gifts for the girls. I'm going to try my hand at hand painting some of the yarn and see how it goes. Still trying to figure out what to make for the girls. Really hoping the yarn will talk to me. Most of the time it does, but I don't know if I'm on a time constraint.

DH is out working in the garden. We're still putting it in. Lucky for us he bought some quick corn and it only takes 60 days he says so we will hopefully still have corn this year. The tomatoes are doing wonderful. Radishes, lettuce and beans are coming up.
Met a guy at work that has a garden too and we got to talking. Nice to meet another self-sufficient person and at my day job. Sounds like he's newer to this. Says he grew up in Cleveland, but luckily he's got a few people helping him. Told him he needs to get chickens and a goat next. :clap

hey, I'm thinking about fall, too, but for a totally different reason, I'm sure

we still have way too much to complete before fall - insulating rooms, chopping firewood, have a baby, get some kind of progress on the root cellar, bury some electrical and water lines.....

sigh...

Anyone wanna come help? :p

Uh, I'll pass on the baby....:D
We need 3 more cords of wood before winter and at this point, I'm willing to buy it. We sure can't be cutting green wood this late in the season, so it's hunting down deadwood...and tomorrow it's supposed to be 106. Agh.
Garden is just starting to produce, too. I've picked three squash and tomorrow I'll pick green beans for the first time. Should be chaos in the kitchen soon. :D

Got my new chickens!!!
I got bantam Salmon Favorelles. Cutest little buggers. I got one rooster and 3 hens. He said they are about 2yrs old and should do well in the show ring. DH hopes they lay too so that we can get some chick out of them quick. I think we have an egg eater in the pen that they are in though because we haven't been getting any eggs out of that pen at all.
I also got 2 more Silver Appleyard hens and a pair of large fowl Light Brahmas. The Brahmas have been hatching really well this year and I have a couple of people interested in them as layers. DH says maybe we'll want to keep a small string of them around to sell the layers out of. Not such a bad idea. These girls love to lay!
I'll take pictures of the Salmon Favorelles later and post them. Late tonight and been busy cleaning all day. I did manage to get a load of clothes dry on the line today. I didn't think that would happen with as hot as it is.

Planning to go to Lake Farmparks fiberfest this weekend. Just gonna look around and see what's going on up there. It may be a potential vendor spot next year if we see enough of a crowd and very few or no vendors with merchandise like ours.
Thanks for sharing the pics of the new chickens. I also love the pic of the week!

Did you make it to Lake Farmpark for the Woolfest/Fiberfest? TR and I didn't because he had to work the week-end. :/

We did make it up there. It really is a smaller event, but a completely different market than we normally do. Saw some vendors that we know really well, but didn't see a lot of spinners from our area. We only stayed for about an hr or so. We decided on giving it a try. The only vendor who sells roving like we do said it was slower, but for the price of the booth fee wasn't to bad.
I found their rainbow painted wensleydales quite interesting. Took a couple of pictures of them just to show to the kids.:D

So glad to know I'm not the only one thinking of fall and winter already! Nothing to make you feel hot thought like crocheting with wool in the middle of a hot humid summer day.:/

I think I'll pass on the baby right now too. :hide

ROTFL - wasn't really meaning wanting help in the baby department, or inviting ya'll to join me in having one BUT FUNNY!

I think if we could get all of the cement blocks we need for the root cellar, I'd like to oranize a "work day" or what the Amish call a "frolic" and see if we can entice family and friends with food to come help us get that project done! :D
