Our main breed is Nubians, but we also have one Lamancha and one Toggenburg. Love the look and color of the Nubians :D

Thanks for telling me about the queens. I'll remember that for next time.

One of my local friends has Oberhasli, Toggenburgs, LaMancha and Nubians. Most of her LaMancha, Toggs and Oberhasli are the older does. TR and I were at her place earlier this spring.... what a bunch of new cuties she has for sale!

Congratulations on NPIP!

Worked Rogers farm machinery this past week. Wow! Makes for a long week, but I scored tomato stakes for $4. That should help as DH has 98 tomato plants planted. Garden is almost done and the tiller decides to stop running. DH thinks it's the spark plug. I really hope it is. Going tonight to help K pick up some chickens. Picking up what the ones hatchery is weeding out. Should be an interesting night. :th
The calves seem to be growing okay. Kinda wish the second one would grow faster, but I have to remember that he is a month younger.

I have baby poults due to hatch this week. I thought the hen should've come off of hers by now, but I guess I could be wrong. Hoping the ones in the incubator hatch. Cross your fingers.
We've got a mite problem with a couple of the goats that we just can't seem to get cleared up. It was brought on by this wet Ohio weather, but just can't get rid of it. :hit

Rogers has been a good week for me. Last night I got some cherry tomatoe plants. Don't really need them, but the one auctioneer took my cookies home last week that I left. So he gave me cherry tomato plants as payment. The big score for last night was some honeysuckle vine. I have had the worst craving for honeysuckle lately. It really just brings back some really good summer childhood memories. I was talking to the one girl about it and she said her Grandma has some at her house. When her Grandma brought the baby down to nurse she brought me a handful of honeysuckle. :weee

DH asked what to do with it and I told him to start it and then find a place to plant it. It's a weed and it will grow. I was also given a recipe this week for honeysuckle jelly so I will probably be trying it next year. Yay!

We got the sunflowers planted on the side of the house. Hoping the couple chickens that are loose won't ruin the patch. I think I might try drying some this fall. If not the birds will be happy. ;)

Me and K are going this afternoon to pick up the rest of the chickens, and I even get to bring some home from his exhibition hatch. Can't wait for the little buggers.

Got my new chickens!!!
I got bantam Salmon Favorelles. Cutest little buggers. I got one rooster and 3 hens. He said they are about 2yrs old and should do well in the show ring. DH hopes they lay too so that we can get some chick out of them quick. I think we have an egg eater in the pen that they are in though because we haven't been getting any eggs out of that pen at all.
I also got 2 more Silver Appleyard hens and a pair of large fowl Light Brahmas. The Brahmas have been hatching really well this year and I have a couple of people interested in them as layers. DH says maybe we'll want to keep a small string of them around to sell the layers out of. Not such a bad idea. These girls love to lay!
I'll take pictures of the Salmon Favorelles later and post them. Late tonight and been busy cleaning all day. I did manage to get a load of clothes dry on the line today. I didn't think that would happen with as hot as it is.

Planning to go to Lake Farmparks fiberfest this weekend. Just gonna look around and see what's going on up there. It may be a potential vendor spot next year if we see enough of a crowd and very few or no vendors with merchandise like ours.

OK, you need to post the recipe for the honeysuckle jelly. I'm assuming you use the Japanese honeysuckle for it?

Deb here is the link to the recipe. I have never tried it, but the thought of it makes me want to! I don't know if it is Japanese honeysuckle. It's the yellow and white kind that grows along hedgerows and roadways everywhere. Is that the same stuff? My honeysuckle is still blooming doesn't have any nectar in it, but it still smells good. Really hoping it roots so that we can get it potted and then planted next year.

Pics of the salmons! So happy to have these guys. DH got a new pen put together for them today.

Sounds like it. It was brought to this country to (if I remember correctly) control erosion, but more or less got out of hand. And while it's considered a nuisance weed in many locations, I love the smell of it.

ETA: OK, I don't think I can get that many flowers now, but I will have to try that next year! It looks easy, and I'd love to try that. We have a ton of honeysuckle growing around here.

Must be the same one. It's considered a weed in most places. I remember the horse place behind us as a kid using it as part of a live fence. Or maybe it just up their fence. ;)
I told DH to plant it along our ditch that way it is less likely to get out of hand and more likely to stay out of the way.
